Convoy S10 and T2: Two new lights from a great company launched on GearBest

The S10 is the ā€œjadeā€ light, the T2 is the AA light

I donā€™t know, but sometimes the AA drivers get weird with the 14500s. I will try it first and see if I like the way it operates. Unless it is a complete bad thing (which I donā€™t think, coming from Simon) I will keep it on AAs. If it is not good, I may try the Li-Ions just to see how it works!

The ā€œwarningā€ has been made, so now itā€™s up to us to try them on our own

SF10 (old version, as I donā€™t have the new version) is nice, and the modes even on AA are good enough. Despite it, I opted to use the host and leave the driver aside! Maybe I will pick it again soon, for another thing.

Blinky is at double-click, so not very well hidden but not in the normal mode cyclus.

happy to hear that. thanks djozz.

Anyone happen to know the strobe frequency?

Iā€™ve ordered one anyway. Will write a review!

Got my T2, first observations:

*steady 225 lumen on high, fresh Eneloop. A bit lower than promised, even taking into account that it is the 4000-4500K version, but still: :+1:
*slooooow PWM on the low modes, 744 Hz, clearly Simon did not make this light for flashoholics. :person_facepalming:
*double-click for strobe engages too easy, two swift half-clicks to go from low via mid to high often results in strobe.
*nice head design with very nice deep mild OP reflector, ledboard on a shelf (so no pill) and 17mm driver behind a retaining ring. Easy to mod.
*led tint is nice and rosy.
*the light has quite a bit of throw for a light this small with OP reflector, but the center of the hotspot has some yellow.

So a solid design but the driver has to go Iā€™m afraid. Which is a pity because I hoped for a good version of a clicky boost driver, so few around!

Some more data:
*strobe freq. 7.5 Hz
*tint in the hotspot: 3730K, exact on BBL
*CRI: 72

Size comparison with other AA clickies, Sofirn SF10,Thorfire TG06,Lumintop ToolAA,Convoy T2,Ultrafire C3,Thrunite Archer1A.

It is smaller than an S2+

Thanks for the info djozz! 225lm isnā€™t bad for a budget neutral 1xAA light.

Jetbeam Jet-1 Pro twistie is my fav in house too.
with 14500 battery in there.
Cheap as. And safe for novices with AA/Ni-Cads, in there.

ā€œā€My mother asked for a little bigger flashlight for her purse (currently carry Thrunite Ti).ā€œā€
Thatā€™s about equal to my Astrolux AO1.

The above Jetbeam. Twisty (460 lum) would be an ideal update for her I reckon.

Thanks for the information on the T2 djozz! I hope it will make a good host considering some characteristics youā€™ve mentioned !
Mine is still delayedā€¦it got stuck in chinaā€™s post office for almost a week :person_facepalming:
(i guess it was due to the Brandsā€™ Week in AliExpress)

T2 will be better a version extension tube for 2AA

Or 3AA. Think Li-Ion performance out of your emergency Eneloops

EDIT: Sorry, I was thinking of a completely different light. The T2 does not support 14500.

Does the old extension tubes for the SK68 would fit on the T2 head ?
I remember that C3 tube on djozz photo was good for do that.

If the driver doesnā€™t support 14500 there is no way it would support 3AA in series.

Two 1,2V AA maybe yes or for driver upgrade,
if this light will be on sale like an host later

Youā€™re right. I was thinking of a completely different light. Iā€™ve corrected my previous post; thank you for pointing that out.

Thanks for the review. I was going to buy some as a host but given the slow PWM and annoying strobe, Iā€™ll pass unless someone tells me there is a replacement driver suitable for this host. Otherwise, Iā€™ll just get another Sofirn SF14 to swap the emitter.

@djozz
thanks for your observations on the T2.
I had hopes for more, admittedly, concerning the driver.
But nice as host, with 17mm driver and retaining ring, and I like the looks of the light.

Strobe is strange for a Convoy light, as is low PWM. Makes me think he just buys some crappy driver elsewhere. A lot of components on the spring side, though. Would be interesting to know if it uses an Attiny or a different MCU. With an Attiny we can reprogram it.

Does anyone have pictures of the driver, both sides?

Kame Sennin has posted information about the T2ā€™s driver in a new thread, with photos:

Oh thatā€™s great, thanks.

:+1:

Left to Right (descending in length)
Sofirn SF10 > Sofirn SF14 > Convoy T2 > Jaxman E3 > Nitefox ES10K > Lumintop Tool AA > Amutorch S3 > Sofirn SP10A > Manker E11 > DGQ Slim Ti

I like the feel of the Convoy T2, more than I expected. It was already said that the fast click to advance modes can take us to Strobe and that it as PWM on Low and Medium modes.
I chose Neutral White XPG2 and I like the tint, it is not completely white, it has some rosy and at the same time yellowish (on Low, in the hotspot). It is a very nice light, but I will mod it!
This was bought to Simon, to whom I thank for the nice work! Having a Convoy AA flashlight is quite nice and this has great quality, as ever  :+1:
