(prototype) the GT Mini

/\ … +1 … :+1:

Nice pics of the GT mini driver and emitter Kawi…

Neal responded on mail asking if sending a switch so i can replace it myself - I said sadly i have no knowledge in this i hope thats not the only solution and help for this, to me this should go under warranty a light thats barely a month old not much used and already problem isnt why i bought this light to have to replace a switch or whatever myself. And i like i said im not a modder and probably wont be as many in here are… If i would try do it myself i would probably destroy more then fix so like i said its better i not try that…

I mean my old convoy c8 works good almost 2 years old, if that would get a problem i wouldnt care so much…

I take care of my lights and i thought lumintop makes better then this . I prefer the rubber switch emisar has or olight compared to their choice.

Even if they offered a replacement driver, which is relatively easy to swap by soldering two wires, most people still couldn’t do it because the bezel is glued shut. So it definitely needs to be a warranty issue. This is the flip side to gluing your lights.

Nothing wrong with having options…but why pick this over the beautiful Emisar D1s with similar specs and size. It currently sells for 35$

Why choose anything? A lot of people think the GT Mini looks much nicer and also looks cute because it’s a miniature version of the big GT.

As it’s been said many times before, the performance is very similar between the two so it’s mainly just a matter of personal preference.

Yeah, I personally prefer the Mini GT.

It’s got a more featured out of the box UI, looks nicer, and doesn’t feature a trashcan feature of reverse polarity protection.

It also seems to have a better, more pleasant finish, and for some people, being able to use protected cells is nice.

And, unrelated a bit, I can pay for it directly in $CA, meaning I don’t get dinged for a 2.5% US dollar conversion on it since I can buy it on Banggood.

You’ll thought the Mini GTs sat in china and took too long to get to the states—check this tracking history out—I made a purchase from IMR batteries (they’re in Houston) I’m in Baton Rouge — 1 1/2 weeks of waiting and this is what I see—— Crazy—-It might end up in China before it’s over with

Two strap wrenches, and I finally got the bezel off mine. Got all the loctite out of the threads, and the bezel comes off smooth now. Button is seemingly working fine now too.

After all that effort of course the button would work :person_facepalming:

Lets just hope it stays working.

I think the fires in California, volcanic eruptions in Hawaii, & the possibility that the Super Volcano in Yellowstone may erupt had a direct impact upon this. :open_mouth: ………

Congrats to the Tigers on a W tonight too.
Looking forward to our 3 November meeting in Deaf Death Valley’
As most times, it should be a good one.

For me the reason to pick GT Mini is the shorty variant.

For sure. Got my shorty tube earlier this week and it looks so funny.

yes i maybe regret this option now, i chose the mini of style as it appealed more to me then…

The D1S also has a 18350 tube I’m pretty sure. The same as the D4 shorty tube.

Nope, the 18650 tubes are different and there’s no 18350 for D1S.

I don’t think a shorty tube has been offered with the D1S

The D1S has a deeper thread at the tube to head connection. It can use the short tube of the D4 IF the user makes some adjustments. There are copper crush washers that come in handy in times like these, Kawiboy found them to work very nicely and I too have found them to be useful. Occasionally one fits without adjustment, other times some filing or sanding may be necessary. But at any rate the copper washer works as a spacer between the driver ground ring and the battery tube to allow the short tube to make contact.

Hello, this is my first post on BudgetLightForums and a week ago I got my GT Mini in the mail from Neal. I noticed that the backlight button is weirdly backlit, not like other GT Mini’s, and at some times its very unresponsive, one time I couldn’t turn the light off for 2 minutes because the button won’t do anything. I hope the button will break in with use and work normally. Here are some links to pictures of the backlight button:
