(prototype) the GT Mini

yes i maybe regret this option now, i chose the mini of style as it appealed more to me then…

The D1S also has a 18350 tube I’m pretty sure. The same as the D4 shorty tube.

Nope, the 18650 tubes are different and there’s no 18350 for D1S.

I don’t think a shorty tube has been offered with the D1S

The D1S has a deeper thread at the tube to head connection. It can use the short tube of the D4 IF the user makes some adjustments. There are copper crush washers that come in handy in times like these, Kawiboy found them to work very nicely and I too have found them to be useful. Occasionally one fits without adjustment, other times some filing or sanding may be necessary. But at any rate the copper washer works as a spacer between the driver ground ring and the battery tube to allow the short tube to make contact.

Hello, this is my first post on BudgetLightForums and a week ago I got my GT Mini in the mail from Neal. I noticed that the backlight button is weirdly backlit, not like other GT Mini’s, and at some times its very unresponsive, one time I couldn’t turn the light off for 2 minutes because the button won’t do anything. I hope the button will break in with use and work normally. Here are some links to pictures of the backlight button:

EDIT:

Here’s the video, you can see sometimes the problem occuring. https://photos.app.goo.gl/sAGa9NQv8kmXNQGi7

all gt minis are backlit like that, mine looks more or less the same like yours. Its clearly that there is an issue with the buttons sadly on some lights. But if u have on a brand new light already a button thats unresponsive i dont think it will get better overtime, mine worked perfect for almost a month then suddenly one day unresponsive…

I hope they will cover us that has issues with this, its clearly something that should go under warranty and i mean 40$ i expected better quality overall…

Sometimes when I try to turn on the light it recognizes one click as two and goes straight to turbo or recognizes 3 clicks and goes to battery check mode, that is frustrating, but overall I like this light.

Yes same problem i have, the light is useless as its defective that way since its a gamble when it will turn on or off or even go turbo no matter if u click ten times not normal behaviour, send Neal a mail and ask for replacement head or something. Even if its just a few under 10 people so far out of 3-400 users its still not fun for the few of use that got the a defective light either at once or after a months use…

Thanks! I’ve sent him an email stating the switch issue.

No, his black button cover is rotated to the wrong position.

Yep Jason…. well said. :+1:
Especially when some of the bezels are glued ’extremely well’… to say the very least. :person_facepalming:

Still a lot to be said for driver retaining rings, threaded switch retaining rings, and no glue.

ymmv

well so is mine, its not perfect centered the so called smiley  its a bit off but not as off as his no but still….

I asked Neal if maybe a replacement head is an option to send, since that is easy just unscrew and it would probably work but if they dont want do that i have wasted 40$ on a light i will not use since its defective and warranty for a light thats 1 month old should cover normal use…

Don’t worry… they will make it right.

Got reply from Neal, :+1:

:+1:

Yep… told you it would work out. . :+1: :+1:

I think I need a new head too, think Neal can help me with that? Mine’s damaged…

Oh, we’re talking about flashlights aren’t we? :stuck_out_tongue:

Go to Ebay, you can find a new head there.

Take your pick my friend…
