[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

I know that the flashlight will come without a clip. Is it too early to ask Sofirn if there will be a possibility to buy the clip together with flashlight and for what price?

I’m sure that buying the clip will be an option when buying the light. And I’m confident that the clip will be cheap.

I like get 1x3200K and 1x5600K

interested

In for 2 each tint.

Some news from Barry.

They have an anodised sample, so below are some glam-pics. I asked about how it looks inside and Barry gave me these two not so glamourous pictures, but they do give me confidence that we are on the right track. The arrow points at the hole through which the potting material is applied (just as in the Fenix E01). He assured me again that the potting will be good and that they have an engineer who worked for Fenix before, to underline the assurance.

Further he strongly asked me to skip sending samples to BLF-members, to speed up the process. I believe him that this is not about cutting quality corners but that it is about getting this light in production soon, which is a fair enough wish for a company. I think that skipping this step does come with a risk, but I agreed with it because they really want it this way and in the end this is not a really complicated flashlight requiring specific BLF-expertise to evaluate. Any problems should be revealed by their own testing, as long as they are very critical about it (which in the end is to their own adavantage). Barry agreed that testing will be done very critical and will include some very extreme tests, which will be video’ed.

Sweet! :+1:
Is this the final finish on the reflector cone or do they want to polish it?
Will they send you pictures of the other colors before the big sell beginns?

Looks great! I kinda feared the backside would look a bit “busy” but that isn’t the case. Kudos to djozz ea.

About polishing: my devote commitment to Brasso is the only bond that lasts even longer than my marriage. Leave the reflector as it is. Some want it dull, some want it shiny. Everyone can make their perfect reflector. Eh…. only if the bezel part is removable. What I mean: if only the pill itself is potted, and not the whole head.

There is no pill, the whole head is potted in this design. And since the reflector is not parabolic anyway, making it shiny will not likely make the beam better, perhaps even worse. I think the machining of the reflector looks pretty neat btw, let’s see if the production lights will have that surface also (not really needed for function but it looks good).

@ Docc: you do not want to have that gap fully closed, when wear and tear occurs on the light over time, the head will scew a bit further in, you do not want to loose electrical contact between battery tube and driver.

I’m already on the list for 1 (or 2? Don’t remember…) but I would like to add 1×3200K and 1×5600k please. This light is getting better and better, congrats to everyone involved.

Btw. the text in the “driver” pic says: Injecting from this hole with a syringe

I think the gap closes when the light is twisted to the on position. Looks like a great crumb catcher when riding around in the bottom of your pocket. lol

@ iamlucky13, please add me for more 1 light of each tint (with the previous ones that makes a total of 4 lights, 2 of each tint).

@ djozz, it is looking great!!
Awesome work so far !! Thanks for all the efforts and work done :+1:

This is looking very good !!

Please put me down for….

  • 2 more NW
  • 2 more 3200K

Thank you…… :+1:

Sorry, was thinking of the Manker Boney. That one has a pill.

@djozz
Sure i want to have that gap fully closed! But if you think it will close after some wear and tear its ok.
Only wanted to make sure it is not an open gap that stays open (like one on my Tool Ti tailcap). Had to sand down the tube a bit to close it.
Hope we can buy it soon! Have forgotten to mention that the knurling looks nice and deep. :+1:

I have already expressed interest in 1x3200K.

Please put me down for 1x5600K also.

This project is looking very interesting and moving along nicely.

same here, thanks!
