Imalent MS12

Is it like the DX80 where everything looks kinda washed out when on turbo because it lit up closer surroundings to the max?

I don’t have a DX80 but they are both spill heavy lights so I believe to pattern is similar maybe more throw on the MS12 because of the larger reflector.

Will watch them…glad you got yours man.still waiting on BG to ship mine…but i think its harder to tell the difference in output as we go up in lumins…but still will be Amazingly bright.

how hot does the head get after it steps down with the fan ? 45c is that right ?

Did u try submerge it see what happens, it says 2m waterproof ?

Risky. The dx80 had a water rating too and the last I heard, when someone dropped it in a foot of water it died. They said they could even see the driver through the side fins. Imalent has some sketchy specs in that regard and I don't know how they get away with it.

That fan is so weak. Seems like Imalent just slapped it on to beat Acebeam to the market. Thanks for the great videos.

I want to purchase an imalent… i am too hesitate just in case the light failed… it is difficult for me to send the light back to china and wait for their response…

Yes i know, but i mean lets sain theory u would drop it in a lake when u are out camping or whatever, surely the light would have to survive it no ? Or just walking with it outside when its raining heavy, I agree that its bad if a light with a ipx rating dies if it comes in contact with water, somethings not right.

Also i wonder how a are u supposed to clean the fan over time? because dust and crap will stick to it like on computer fans if u dont clean in a few months its all clogged upp from dust etc… must be a hazzle if it stops working to send in the whole light to Imalent ?

I think that if we have the DX80,it is better to get a R90C than a MS12 .

It prob is…but i ordered the MS12 though…lol…i do want the R90C also.

If I got the light for free to do a review, I would test it in water but I doubt anyone here would like to do that with their own light considering what it costs! Good point about the fan. I wonder if Imalent made it accessible for occasional cleaning?

No way to access the fan, maybe if you disassemble the head which I have not tried. I am definitely not going to try exposing it to any water unless it is distilled water. :stuck_out_tongue:

I did measure output in my 3.5” lumen tube from TA, I used maukka’s calibration lights to test the new lux meter. This is an incredibly inaccurate way to measure luminous intensity because the head of the flashlight is 5” in diameter, there is an incredible amount of light escaping. My GT70 measured almost 3000 lumens apart from people with a integrating sphere. That being said, it measured at 25,000 lumens. I am working on sourcing some 6 inch PVC to build a larger version of the same design.

The fan seems to kick on at 50 degrees Celsius.

25 000 on turbo? not more ? u dont happen to own olight x9r? would be fun see how much more bright it is compared side by side….

The fan seems to rotate very fast by hearing high pitch noise of it.
They are really nice light, i might get R90C later.
Too bad when charging user has to unscrew battery tube. Not convenient when doing topup from time to time.

So i assume you got it? If so CONGRATS… Mine should come this week…so the charging if on the battery itself??

I haven’t purchased yet. Still waiting for more details to know how good it is.

Ohhh ok…i will make a video when i get it…my channel on YT is ThatCrazyFlashaholic 67…

I hate switch that sticks. I have one HP desktop that has power switch that sticks, so when i power on the desktop, it sticks and i have to quickly try all efforts to unstick it, 80% chance the desktop would shut down.

Thanks a lot. Please do candela measurement, preferably outdoor if you can. Indoor will have too much reflection contribute to lux measurement.

Why would you expect more? The flashlight head is 5.1” in diameter and the Lumen Tube is 3.5” in diameter. So a huge amount of the light is not even going inside the Lumen Tube. If a GT70 only shows 3000, then 25000 seems about right.

When you get up to big lights with really high outputs you need to switch to a bigger integrating sphere. Like a big styrofoam cooler.

You start to run the risk of melting the diffusers in the TA Lumen Tube.
