Quick review blitzwolf BW-T1( XP-G3, 1x18650, 750 lumen)

I recieved this light this morning, the shipping is very fast( about 1 week to my place)

Blitzwolf is well-known about thier quality product( i have thier micro usb cable, and it’s super perfect)
So when i saw them make flashlight and it’s super cheap(about 10:money_mouth_face:, i quick grabed it

You can see it’s quite powerful( 750 lumen, nearly as same as convoy s2+)

Using single xp-g3, and they claim it’s 5000k, all i can say is :The tint is really terrible, tint shift is the worst i have met, hotspot is around 5000k, but outside ranges from 4500k to 7000k

Another disadvantage is:PWM
It’s 250hz pwm
(4 white stripes in 1/1000s picture)

(yeah, WTF, even lower than my jetbeam 1mk), this is the lowest pwm frequency flashlight i have used , even i’m easygoing with low frequency( as far as my eye can’t tell it’s pwm, which is about 1000-2000hz), i am very disappointed and annoyed by this low frequency

But they also have some good things
Build quality is good(i feel it more solid than my convoy s2+)

The lens is AR coated(nicer than convoy s2+), reflector is SMO( great for thrower), and the screw is well lubed

From left to right: Jetbeam 1mk,bw-t1, astrolux s1
Driver UI is 3 modes L-M-H and 1 strobe mode(not hidden), no memory, always start at LOW, tail switch is clicky(like the one in astrolux s1)
And this is the head compared with astrolux s1

The head is not glued, MCPCB is copper. Not sure if it’s DTP

In summary:this light definitely needs reworking, changing the led and driver are 2 things must be done before anything else, if its use xp-g2 or xpl-hi and better driver, i will give it 9/10
Pros
High output
Great throw
Nice build
Ar coated lens
Great water-prof(double oring at its head)
No Glue(easy for modding)
Cons
Horrible tint
Horrible( the Worst PWM)
The UI is not quite comfortable(no hidden strobe)
Ps:sorry for my bad english(its not my native language)

Im pissed with xp-g3, so i change it to xpl-hi 6500k( only led i have now)
The tint is much useable nơe

Thanks for the mini review.
I also have one in transit, no memory is not good
but always start in low mode is perfect for me.
May I know the diameter of the Led Star.

i’m outside right now, so i will measure and post it ASAP
btw the driver is Press Fit, so it will be hard to change driver

First post around here so ‘Hi’ to everyone. Have been a long time lurker but always to shy to post

Thank you for the info. Do you know what is the size of the driver and the MCPCB? The latter looks like 16mm in the picture but not 100% sure. It could make a nice host since it’s usually around 12USD including shipping. Cheers.

It looks to me like the MCPCB is a bit over 5 emitters across. Each emitter is 3.5mm across, so >17.5mm, probably 20mm. I don’t know about the driver, but I’d guess 17mm.

I like the intermediate head/reflector size. I’ve been tempted to buy one for use as a host, especially when they go on flash sale, but so far I haven’t.

Thanks a lot! Good thinking - that makes sense.

Could anyone confirm the size of the driver? As you expect it’s probably 17mm as that’s a typical configuration, isn’t it? It would be nice to get the confirmation though.

Yeah, surely someone has opened one up.

the driver is press fit, so i can’t confidently remove it without ruining it, and it’s bigger than 17mm, maybe 20mm
the MCPCB is a little smaller than normal 20mm MCPCB

That probably doesn’t make it a nice, mod friendly host.

Thanks for the report, mrheosuper. That’s disappointing, but good to know. I guess I won’t be ordering one.

Even 22mm. It can be push out by drive in a toothpick closer to border, doing it from LED side, where are two holes with wires in them lying free. Use hammer.

No electrical contact with base head, edge connects to tube (by ground). Driver has no current stabilization (LED gets dimmer on battery discharge), shuts off at 2.30V. Shitty PWM. SO8 IC has has no inscription (microcontroller?), another is “LEDA” (Crappy Sailbot origin, model QX9920), one more three-legged IC, and two N-channel mosfets. Star made of brass. Base has four holes, two of them have M2 thread.

Some measuring, all currents at 4.00V fix (stabilized supply):

Low: 0,015A
Med: 0,650A
High: 1,825A
