Emisar D1S Oslon Black flat mod 340k+cd

The GT mini also has same body setup like D1S. 5 black flats ordered last week and I will put one in aa GT mini, one in a Convoy L2 on led4power MCPCB. And maybe one in a modded Convoy S8 to see what throw I can get from a small tube light.

On C8 you can get up to 300kcd with 1000% perfect focus and a “good” Black Flat .

You misread it. S8 not C8
Small tube light like S2. Basically it already has an S2 smooth reflector and a dedomed XP-G2 now with 3,15A 9x7135 driver and AR coated lens. It makes 22500 cd in that config.

Oops , sorry Zozz

No problem. It is not a small tube light what came in people’s mind first when talking about black flat mod

The HaikeLite MT07S - HI seems like a good candidate for this emitter for any that don't want to electrically insulate under the emitter base. Looks like you would just need to use plastic screws to keep the driver from grounding to the host. Maybe a piece of kapton tape under the 2 driver screw a points for extra measure.

Pluses:

  • Smooth reflector.
  • The light would already have a large XP emitter base.
  • I'm assuming a buck driver? Just sense resister to 4 or so amps. Should have good run times

EDIT: Fixed some typos & added content

So I reflowed it perfectly on the board and it work nicely.

Wanting to use FET driver but is it too much current for this led?

Other review state the max it can handle is 5.4A

At 5.4 it will not be at maximum brightness and be a bit blue tinted. 4A - 4.5A is optimal.

Yeah for a regular flashlight host you want to stick to between 4-5A
5+ is possible if you have good active cooling.

The 2 pin version is in stock at ARROW for $2.93 each. Just ordered 5 to play with.

How do you limit the amps to the black flat on the D1S? Do you just use a low current battery or do you have to replace the driver?

Low current battery like an NCR18650B, replacing the driver, or perhaps, just remove the high current BeCu springs and replace them with steel ones.

Black flats arriver few days ago. I putted in an L2 and a GT mini. Not tried them just picked the first. In the GT mini I got strange ring beam and only 160 kcd.
Replaced the reflector with the Emisar D1S (perfect fit) and I got 214 kcd. Still not happy with results completely. These numbers are measured with GA cells. With HG2 it was worse. The L2 is worse then old XP-G2 S4 2B dedomed.

i think your led not focused properly

Like that? I think it is more like can’t set perfect current or I lost the black flat lottery

Hmm
Are you using standard center ring or customized?

You need to check the focus outside on an object that is far away. It’s a lot of work to get if perfect. The smaller the led and the larger the reflector, the more difficult it is.

Skylumen discontinued the Oslon version of the D1S and GTMini because it takes too much work to tune the beam for the Oslon.

I just put a Black Flat in my D1S as well… amazing !
I can’t measure the intensity accurately but according to the ceiling bounce app “calibrated” with my stock M3XS, well I hit a mere 350 kCd…
Even if I’m 20% wrong it’s still really impressive and the beam is really tight !
Oh, and BTW I also put one in the said M3XS… 450+ kCd

Nice!

But I don’t get how does ceiling bounce work for throw measurements.
