Cometa shipped after 24hr. Those are BG datetime, i ordered and paid on 21Sep.
Also ordered the Cometa when it had a few stocks with the 26650 battery included.
Now the 26650 battery version is sold out, but the Cometa without 26650 battery is still available (different item code). Still a good price.
As for 18650s, well they don’t ship to my country, so it’s a moot point for me. (flashlight + battery included in same package do get shipped though, although lately several packages of items with rechargeable battery that are shipped via Belgium Post didn’t arrive and I had to complain for refund [I had previously wondered why they have to go from China to Europe and back to Southeast Asia, to attempt to circumvent battery restrictions, which are failing the last few months based on my experience]).
Pretty possible - technology allows for very interesting new features (see Maglite XL100 for example, but this UI did not catch on) and there will always be some people with very specific needs. As to mainstream - I believe that ease of use will always be the priority for non enthusiasts - so simplest 1 and 3 mode UIs will not die.
As far as I can see Cometa stock with 26650 battery is highly erratic - over the past few days it was sold out multiple times and some (<10 pcs) appeared in stock from time to time. Don’t know the reason for this - maybe the demand is so high but I was under the impression they cleared out old stock…
