You can add me to that list as well teacher, but like RobertB, I have not had an issue with it over the last several days. I had messaged Neal about this issue and the diffuser fit issue and received a reply from him today. I’m going to continue to work it over the next several days to see if the problem returns. I cannot see the root of the issue necessarily correcting itself, whatever it may be. I’ll keep ya posted.
I will add though that of the two minis that I have, the light that had the issue is the one that the button light is not centered on. Not sure if that is a part of the problem but there is a defect there that at least interfaces with the issue at hand so can’t rule out the possibility.
One possible reason could be that the 2 metal surfaces that touch each other inside the switch has some tarnish or oxidation, etc… that is preventing good contact. Repeated use might wear the contacts back to bare metal again.
Most flashlights use tactile switches meaning you can feel when they are depressed and they pop back up. They usually have a metal dome that requires a certain amount of pressure to bend.
It’s like when you accidentally lean on a car fender and it pops in. You take the pressure off and it pops back to its original shape.
My switch seems to have fixed itself too. After a lot of switching, and letting the light run really hot a few times it seems to work normally again, fingers crossed. Neal did send a new driver after I requested that for back-up :+1:
If only I knew how to get that retaining ring off Is it threaded or is it press fit? I don’t want to damage it even more so just let me know what tools should I use to do that
Any hint how to do that? The only thing I can think of would be rubber ball for opening watches but unfortunately don’t have one lying around.
Soz for probably super basic questions but I’m more of a knive guy, never disassembled any light (but seeing how many people have problems with this particular one I’d prob do better work )
Not necessarily. You can ramp it up or down and then turn it off while it’s flashing the 1 or 2 blinks and it will turn the side switch off temporarily.
Some people have thought the switch light is supposed to be on all the time regardless of the main light being on or off. I was just making sure illuminos knew that it doesn’t stay on all the time. I’m wondering if his side light turns on or off or flickers by itself without him touching the switch.
