(prototype) the GT Mini

Darn… hope she recovered OK. And your right…… it does suck when “you” are the percentile.

Saw the Tigers pull out another one…. good luck this coming week.

Hopefully we will keep the ‘big head’ at bay & continue the course to #18.

Yeah, I know…
……. It is waaayyyy to early to mention that, but I just couldn’t resist.

I have a feeling Monday & Tuesday were long hard “days of learning” spent on Thomas Field, for several players in Tuscaloosa this week. .

still way too many imo… i bet over time there will be more.

Too many problems in GB first the haikelite fiasko with lies etc and now this light, cant say im too happy…now the damn wait for replacement head which i hope will arrive…

I just want lights that work without issues its not like we buying cheap ebay 2$ ultrafire lights.

I was told anything under 10% is considered acceptable. So right now the current lights can be fixed without much problem.

“They” must have got their zeros wrong. Officially it’s more like 1 in 100. I worked in radiology for a few years, and especially with ortho surgeons. Infection can occur up to around two years after the surgery too, but the percentage goes way down.

Can someone confirm my suspicion on the tint of my two lights for me? I ordered two NW but believe I received one CW. I guess I hadn’t compared them side by side until now and it’s pretty obvious to me but I’m just looking for some confirmation from the professionals. What say you?

Sorry for the crappy pics. I don’t own a professional camera.

Geez, thanks Robert… one more thing to worry about. Would a ti plate with 6 screws on my spine qualify for that or is more related to joint replacement issues?

I am interested in what Robert says because it sounds like he knows, but what from what I have been told; that applies mainly to joint.
I think your neck is safe….
.

For what the pictures show, I do not see a big difference in colour temperature, they may well both be neutral white, but there is certainly a tint difference. Tints within one batch of leds can differ a lot if not a tight tint bin is ordered by the flashlight manufacturer (ususally that is not the case so I’m not surprised).

I don’t think they specify the exact led bin. The more yellow one could be a 3B or 3C and the pinker one a 3A or 3D. The pinker one might be under the BBL and the yellow above it. Or maybe they are both a 3A or 3D just at opposite ends of the scale. That would be my guess.

They always move the Zeros around when selling you something—— :smiling_imp:

hm it looks like 2 different tints in my opinion… i think someone else also got 2 different looking colors so who knows… send pics to Neal and let him decide if they sent wrong or not?

If that are 2 of same then thats not acceptable to me when u clearly can tell them apart.

@mortuus: both tints seem to fall in the category “neutral” so you may be demanding more than what is promised.

For us flashaholics there are a few sellers who deliver single Cree tint bins, but that is the exception, a luxury that costs extra, it is not how the leds are normally sold by Cree. Normally it is a grab bag of tint bins around a specified colour temperature, containing 4 or more tint bins. So receiving tints this far apart is a normal thing to happen.

Looks like those two lights fall in the Neutral White normal range, like Jason said probably a 3D and a 3B, but a Cool White would normally show much brighter with a cool blue-white look to it, not the slight yellow or brown color of that cooler one. The one sure looks like 3D though.

I used to order from Mouser and they would send mixed lots of stuff like this, quit buying emitters from them for the most part for this very reason.

GT Mini CW vs BLF GT NW vs GT Mini NW

As for me, the GTmini NW has the perfect timbre. My GTMini has 4430K and is under BBL

That’s truly horrifying. Looks like it’s the very last torch manufactured by Lumintop I bought :frowning:

To me if this is acceptable ratio then it was my last Lumintop light also if thats the kind of quality the offer then no thanks, feels like the replacement head wont come either, been 3 weeks now almost but i will wait a little more, then i will just pack the light in its box and it will collect dust i guess and 40$ wasted on crap…

This could be all China flashlight manufacturers, not just Lumintop. It’s all about keeping production cost as low as possible. You save more money than loose it by fixing a small percentage as opposed to doing lots of quality control checks and getting it right the first time.

As far as the GT MINI and Lumintop is concerned, they are only at 3% which is quite good. They are not loosing much money fixing 15 lights out of 500+. As long as they fix it, I’m okay with it. There are other companies that don’t like fixing things at all.

Keep in mind that even if you do spend extra money doing more quality control checks that there are still always going to be a certain percentage of lights with problems. This is the same for Acebeam, Olight, Nitecore, etc…

Where did you get your numbers (3%)? I think that if you see a lot of complaints here, there are a lot more we don’t know of.

Don’t see complaints in this amount for instance with the D1s.

Seems to me lumintop does has quite some quality issues with this light.

15 ÷ 500 = 3%

I don’t think BLF has ever done a group buy on the D1S lights. So I would imagine that if there were any complaints about it, the people would be complaining directly to International Outdoor Sports Store rather than to this forum. Maybe some people would mention it in a review thread? I don’t know.

For sure the defects rates vary with every model of light regardless of the brand. Like the Haikelite MT09R. Pretty much all of them had problems. Even the BLF Q8 had issues with the switch lights in the first batches. Some light models might be 0.5, some 3, some 20, some 100.

In my opinion, it’s not so much what the percentage of bad units is, it’s how the company responds to the issues. Like the Fireflies ROT66. All the xpl-hi versions had crushed emitters. They took care of the problem quickly. This can be an inconvenience to customers, but at least it was taken care of.

Other companies like Imalent may or may not fix the problem. They seem reluctant to fix anything. Or else they will charge you for a new head, etc…

Right now Lumintop seems really good about fixing their products. It took them awhile to fix some of the GT issues, but we are currently at 7 out of 1500 needing an issue taken care of, most of which is related to missing or damaged shipments which you can’t even say is a defect. If we count all 7, this is 0.5. We hope to get it to 0 soon.

Bottom line, I don’t see how you can really bad mouth Lumintop when there are other companies that are much much worse.
