Sofirn Q8 group buy (gb closed, but try PM to Sofirn for discount)

Newlumen, tap the bottom of the e04 with your hand a little firm. Does it blink?

No. It doesn’t blink.

Good point Blue…… :+1: … . Thank you.

K mine is broken then

I will see you on the e04vn forum.

I got my order of Sofirn Q8. It came with NarsilM v1.0. Flashed it to NarsilM v1.2, which works better.
Then also tried flashing it to Anduril (latest 09-07-2018), so far it seems to work properly too.
I didn’t encounter the “no switch light” issue that DB Custom mentioned… could it be related to the Aux-LED configuration? (which can be adjusted in Lockout mode: ie. 4 clicks to lock-out, then click-click-hold, then select the mode)

What is the Constant Output of Amps needed from the batterys to run this Sofirn Q8 does anyone know ??

It does not work like that.

Any unprotected 18650 should be fine.

Are you asking what battery gives the highest output?

How many batteries do you plan to use?

The usual suggestion is 4 x 30Q button top. High drains give the best output.

If you don’t care about highest output, you can run high capacity like 3500mah as well as protected cells.

@ JasonWW, My self, im fine as i have a couple hundred 18650s to choose from VTC6,30Qs even some that put out a constant 35amps continuous unprotected, protected etc "but" my brother in Western Australia only has 18650s that he has taken out of old laptop battery packs & there flat tops,so he will have to solder blobs on the + end, Thats why i was wundering (to get full output) does he need 20 amp continuous from 30Qs or will protected 10 amps continuous do the job ? or would he be still getting full output with the old laptop batteries he takes out of laptop battery packs ??

Thanks...

Mismatched cells are safe to use due to them being in parallel, but it’s best to use a matched set.

With 4 batteries the most it should draw is maybe 16A so that is only 4A per battery.

You will never get the highest output using old laptop cells. You need high drain cells with the lowest resistance in order to get the highest output.

JasonWW,

Thanks Jason that makes perfect sense,i just told him on phone what you said & now i'll send him the banggood link to the samsung 30q batteries.

thanks again.

Right now 4 x 30Q button top batteries are on sale for $20. Not bad at all. I might grab an extra set for myself.

@ JasonWW,

Yea maybe $20 USD for you for 4 x 30Qs on sale, "But" for me $28.20 Australian for 4 x 30Qs, A fair while back they were only $23 for 4 of them & so i bought about 32 of them & haven't seen them as cheep again since.

For us(we) Amazon US purchasers, I see only two reviews. I know we all said thank you but I think Sofirn was hoping for a whole bunch of verified purchase reviews. I wrote one of them. I suppose anyone who received one is having fun all night (thanks to the high capacity) and sleeping all day!

I will write reviews today.

Just summit 5 stars review on amazon.

I sound like a broken record, but 5775.3 lumens is what I get once again on a brand new just took it out of mailbox Sofirn Q8. Rested 30Q cells at 4.19V. Literally dropped in the cells and put it on the light box, first time I turned it on.

Hmmmm... Nice!

TK? I flashed Anduril on this new Q8 with the exact same result, no side switch back-light. Zero modification to the light other than flashing Anduril. And to be sure my file was clean I downloaded it fresh from your site and installed this new file. Under lockout condition, tap-tap-hold only gives me momentary moon level. No blinks or anything else. Testing functions shows Anduril working perfectly, as before.

Maybe y’all can help me on this, I will be modifying this second Q8 soon and the plan was to use SST-40’s for something in the range of 10,200 lumens. (Done it before) But I like doing things different, so now I am wondering if it would be worth it to use XHP-50.2’s and see if I can get 16,000 or more from this Q8. Am even entertaining the thought of building a top end extension fitted down into the Q8 head with cooling fins above the existing head to aid in heat management. Probably wider than the stock head at these new fins. Thinking to just use 4 pairs of 18350’s, run time would suck but it wouldn’t be used for long periods anyway… I already have the new MCPCB’s, SST-40’s are en-route, don’t have the 50.2’s. What say ye?
