MecArmy SGN3 Rebuilt

The demolished housing looks like something recovered from a plane crash :open_mouth:

Great save, nice description of the process, and of course another CRX beauty light is born! :sunglasses:

Great mod and skills as always

Lol, I know the feeling. Nice save :+1:

Is it only me that has the feeling that many stock lights should have the looks and the specs of CRX’s modded/saved lights?
Nice work again mate :+1:

This gave me stomach pain,

and this was a sigh of relief

And an Ooooh Aaaah!

Stunning work again!

Welcome back CRX with another fine rebuild.
If 99% of us here tried what you did here we would all have two destroyed housings. :person_facepalming:

On first look, I thought it was another exploding battery story. Sure happy it was just Glue Rage. :rage:

CRX,
You may not care for me because I gave you grief in the past but you are a MASTER modder if not the GREATEST modder on BLF!

Your creations are AMAZING and thankfully I have one of yours and it is one of my favorite mods of all times! Not trying to get into your good graces but you are something.

Your ingenuity is amazing!!!

Beautiful rebuild.
I had an early version, did they ever fix the PWM in lower modes?
Your builds always have luxurious details that are lacking in our budget lights. I don’t even bother looking at the custom offerings on the other site, do you ever find any plagiarism of you work?

Great build! :+1:

Thanks for the comments guys

Glue Rage! - I’ll keep that one

Yes we were wondering about that. I’m glad you received the light well and are happy with it, KnuckleHead

I am not really sensitive to PWM but a quick look through the camera shows there is a bit on the low & medium modes. This light is an early model too.

I don’t think people copy what I do using only small hand tools, most custom lights are made using machines but if anyone did then I would take it as a compliment I think as I know what effort goes in to it.
Everything I learned about flashlights I learned here and continue to do so from other members sharing their work, I use some of that knowledge with my own ideas on top and sometimes it turns out alright
Here’s a nice wee light that I helped inspire someone else to make though.

very nice work!

Hi,

I would like to change the red and UV LED to better ones, as the stock LEDs have a narrow beam and the UV emits a lot of visible light.
Could you tell me, how was it sealed shut?
Is it glued?

How would you take it apart, but not break it, any suggestions?

You’re asking me, did you not see the second picture?

The front part seems to be glued and press fitted into the one piece body, probably some heat and rubber grips would enable it to be pulled out but it is very easily damaged as the the material is thinner where the join is on the body of the light. Also the coating is easily chipped.
If you attempt it, do not try to wiggle it out, straight pulling only as the sides will split.

Hope that helps, and welcome :+1:

Thanks. I got a flashlight that came without paint, so nothing chipping away.
Did you already remove the glue on the pictures?

Besides, could you tell me what types of LEDs the red and UV are?
Are there any markings?

There wasn’t much there, hard to see.

But they are 3mm LEDs?

The auxiliary side emitters, yes. I doubt you will find much better equivalents to be honest.

Really?
I am not too impressed from these two. The main emitter is fine, I wont touch it.

Probably wise
