Just summit 5 stars review on amazon.
I sound like a broken record, but 5775.3 lumens is what I get once again on a brand new just took it out of mailbox Sofirn Q8. Rested 30Q cells at 4.19V. Literally dropped in the cells and put it on the light box, first time I turned it on.
Hmmmm... Nice!
TK? I flashed Anduril on this new Q8 with the exact same result, no side switch back-light. Zero modification to the light other than flashing Anduril. And to be sure my file was clean I downloaded it fresh from your site and installed this new file. Under lockout condition, tap-tap-hold only gives me momentary moon level. No blinks or anything else. Testing functions shows Anduril working perfectly, as before.
Maybe yâall can help me on this, I will be modifying this second Q8 soon and the plan was to use SST-40âs for something in the range of 10,200 lumens. (Done it before) But I like doing things different, so now I am wondering if it would be worth it to use XHP-50.2âs and see if I can get 16,000 or more from this Q8. Am even entertaining the thought of building a top end extension fitted down into the Q8 head with cooling fins above the existing head to aid in heat management. Probably wider than the stock head at these new fins. Thinking to just use 4 pairs of 18350âs, run time would suck but it wouldnât be used for long periods anyway⌠I already have the new MCPCBâs, SST-40âs are en-route, donât have the 50.2âs. What say ye?
Go for broke, get the most out of it you can.
I would say just wait for the extension tube for the Q8.
Youâll get 8x18650 compatibility and the ability to draw massive power levels. And much higher capacities compared to 8x18350s.
âŚâŚâŚ POOF!
Kawi , I had three in my scratch build that drew 21A at 13,000+ lumens, no poof!
The one in my Jaxman is making 3000 plus on two 14500âs. Think itâs at 3A or so in that light.
Djozz has tested them up to 15A.
But yeah, thereâs that possibility which is why I asked. The Quad set up may make the difference, donât knowâŚ
Either way though Kawi, Iâll have 4 more HIâs you can haveâŚ
The Q8 ramping mode blinky settings has me confused. Double click to turbo, double click to strobeâŚthen what ? I have tried single, double, and long presses and I can get it to change strobe types sometimes but not with any consistency, Also , it doesnât memorize the change for next time. Should it remember the new strobe setting?
I don't think so. You do have to keep on clicking till you get to the Blinky you want.
you canât dilly dally when in strobe, as soon as you enter it, you need to click to the strobe mode you want, single clicks, within 1 second or that mode will lock inâŚ.
unless you got a defective light but i have never heard that particular issue.
& no, it doesnât save strobe settings.
Hard to tell which strobe mode you have switched to if you have to click within 1 second in order to keep switching.
Yep, it is. :+1: . . To eliminate this problem just memorize/remember the number of clicks it takes to go to the strobe you want. That way you do not have to âseeâ it to get there.
Good tip, thanks.
My pleasureâŚ. I learned it the hard way. . . .
Just click to any blinky mode besides the first one.
It will lock in after 1.2 seconds. Press and hold and it will go back one blinky mode and unlock for 1.2 seconds, at which point you can go forward through all the modes. If you stop on the wrong one, press and hold to unlock again.
This is the same procedure for mode sets.
Blinky modes are not memorized.
Try this video, itâs not very good, but it shows the basics.
/\ âŚâŚ Thanks for that info Jason. . :+1: . I didnât realize that could be done. Of course I rarely use blinkiesâŚâŚ
I have number of clicks to âbeaconâ memorized & thatâs it for me.
I watched all your videos , Jason. They were very helpful⌠I donât use strobe much but I was just monkeying around with it and wanted to learn it. Thanks.
