(prototype) the GT Mini

Okay, mine goes worse and worse… I can’t be sure that it will light ON when I press the switch, and I don’t even think of ramping…
BG just answered my request and they want to refund me 10€ to “repair it locally” :person_facepalming:
Come on, do you even know a shop that would fix it ? For 10€ ? :disappointed:
Naw, not gonna happen… So I asked a spare driver or a whole new head assembly… We’ll see

wow that sucks, maybe ask Neal after holidays if he can sell you a new spare head instead? banggood always screws customers over when it comes to faulty lights…
Its obvious they rushed the production of this light, its not just a few issues, i think there are alot more those from banggood that dont hang and post in here so they must know by now lumintop that it has some issues with switch etc and the problem is not just 10 people… its more.

I just dont understand banggood should just contact lumintop since they buy from them directly? and ask how solve it, its obvious it should go under warranty brand new lights and switch issues etc…

I paid via PayPal, if BG refuses to handle this on a correct manner I’ll open a dispute…

yes i would do same, its nonsense they offer a small amount back, thats scamming to me goodluck!

X3 you got a response from BG recently? I haven’t heard back since I sent the video / photos they requested about 10ish days ago. Figured they were on holiday but if they’ve recently replied to you I need to email again.

I just looked on their terms if something goes bad, it says:

-
*1. Take a video or some photos showing the issue occurred with this item and contact us to submit your claim;

2. We will contact you for more information or give you a response within 48 hours;

3. If a product is still covered by our warranties, you may have to return it. The responsibility for paying the return shipping fees depends on the actual problem of the item you want to return.*-

Problem is that even if u want to send something back, in this case the gt mini the shipping alone will almost cost as much as the light and if for any reason the light would go missing they wont take any responsibility ofc, so to me the only way is to go with paypal dispute.

Banggood tends to offer tiers of responses in order to get things cleared up quickly and cheaply. First they want you to do a video hoping some people won’t and give up. Next they may offer a small refund hoping you will accept and some people do. You have to be firm and stick it out and eventually they will get to a satisfactory resolution.

This seems to be how a lot of Chinese companies work to resolve issues. They try to wear you down. Lol. You just have to realize what their doing and don’t give up.

Well said Jason, 100% correct!! . :+1:

It’s a ‘game’, if a person calmly plays it… they most often will always win.

nobody screws over BLFers thats a game they wont win.

Yup, I know that… obviously not my first with them lol
I sent pics (lol), a video showing the switch malfunction, and explanation.
They promised a response before 48H… so I contact them again after 72H
I’m not really surprised that they tried to buy me with 10€ refund, I know how it works

That’s sort of how Chinese culture works. Lots of negotiating.

Okay now they get on my nerves :expressionless:

“We are terribly sorry that we don’t support the part for you to replace it. We suggest you can accept 10 EUR and 200 points to repair it. Please understand that what we do is to help you solve the problem as soon as possible.”

PayPal will take care of that…

That is just sad, why dont they ask lumintop for replacements to send out?

I just received an Email from Neil. He is going to send me a replacement head. I will post an update when I receive and test the new head when it comes.

Excellent!! . :+1: … Keep us posted.

Anyone else having any type GT Mini switch problems besides the people I mentioned above??

Hello!
Got my GTmini just today.
The button is not highlighted symmetrically, but for me it is not critical.
Green light of the button stop work after some minutes.

I wanted to ask people, did everyone get short bodys?
Because in my kit there was no short body for 18340.
But on the BG page a short body is declared in the kit.

Silent_Star interesting observation didnt see that, i dont think a short tube is included default i thought it was sold as spare extras? sad u got a defective light, it seems more and more of those issues will pop up :frowning: I think a large batch of the first lights will show defective switch, if for one day or in my case almost a month it took for it to go bad…

It says on banggood page,

Package included:
1 x Lumintop GTmini XPL HI 1200LM Stepless Dimming LED Flashlight
1 x Spare waterproof O-rings
1 x Lanyard
1 x Manual

so i guess typo ?

I didn’t get it in the package. I was sure it was separate and bought separately. Still waiting for it to arrive….

I finally got time to play with my GT Mini and compare it with my favourite walking light - UTorch UT02.
I used to love UT02 because:

  • the beam has just perfect proportions, hotspot size is right just like spill angle
  • performance is not earth shattering but nevertheless very good

Though I use my current one much less than before since I accidentally ripped off the flimsy USB port cover and had to seek it in gravel with nothing but a thrower.

I was unable to prepare properly for that.
UT02 used a partially charged Lii-50A. It didn’t matter, the boost driver deals with it easily.
GT Mini used a high-resistance Lumintop LM34C charged to 4.04V. Certainly less performant than it could be.

Spot size? Very similar, GT Mini has it slightly smaller.
Spill angle? The same.
Throw? GT Mini clearly won here.

Overall it shows that my UT02 really deserves doubling LED current. And maybe swapping an E2 (if I only got it……).
And it shows that GT Mini is an amazing performer. Way smaller. Lighter. Better UI.

I knew that GT Mini would be my EDC thrower. With 18350. I imagined putting some throwy Osram LED in it at some point.
But that would make it less good for walking. I’m seriously tempted to get another….
