Which robot vacuum cleaner is better?

Who can tell which model of vacuum cleaner is better?
I found an article and these vacuum cleaners suit me, but I don’t know which model to choose. list of models
Has anyone used one of these models? What can you say?
Thank you

Well, my research is a few years old now but Neato was much superior to Roomba and I am really happy with my Neato D70e. In the last few years, only maintenance required was a new battery.

Neato works very systematically and its very satisfying to watch it working. It will first scan the entire area through its laser scanner and then work in a grid, the squarish body with side brush and magnetic strip boundry is nice design as well. Roomba will work in a asymmetric pattern and I did not like the way it randomly moves around bumping into the stuff.

I’m using a Xiaomi Mi bought from banggood. It does a perfect job for a very low price. I have the first model without the wash function. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it’s not good at climbing over doors with a “step” but I think that’s a common problem with them. Mine manages it like 50% of the times so now I just shut the door and move the cleaner into the room every now and then.

I have the Roomba 980. It is much smarter than my previous Roombas that just randomly bounces back and forth. However, the 980 keeps mistaking the aluminum strip on the floor as the charger base so I stopped using it. I read from many reviews that the Xiaomi robot vacuums are the smartest and best performing on the market. I might give it a try later when my kids learn to put their toys away. You can find some good deals on slickdeals.net

I have the Vorwerk Kobold VR100 for 6 years now, it is based on the old Neato Botvac series.
It’s programmed to clean every night and it’s still on it’s first set of batteries! Only thing that had to be changed are brushes and a set of wheels.
Did some math the other day and concluded that it sucked dust from my home to Berlin over the years, a distance of 600 km, that’s just short of 400 miles!

Pretty good German quality!

All i know is if BLF makes one it will do 40 mph ,swallow up tennis balls ,and blind the cat.

I’m in for two

And will be half the cost of a Roomba…! :money_mouth_face:

xiaomi Mibot V1

very pleased with ours

many recommended - all of them happy

I have an all aluminum and steel Royal upright. It does an amazing job, and it’s built to last a lifetime. But it’s really heavy to carry up and down stairs. Maybe I should check one of these robot vacs out.

WINNER!!

But will only do it for 10 seconds, after which thermal stepdown will kick in to avoid overheating.

We are a Neato house. We briefly had a Roomba and because of it’s random “search and bump,” it would never get the whole area. Plus the Neato actually has real vacuum suction and not just a tiny whimpy fan to collect random dust.

I’d like to know more about these machines. Can they be programmed on room-by-room basis or do they have to be told to clean the whole house? Say I made a mess in the kitchen, can I tell it to clean just the kitchen this time?

My Roomba 980 is not that advance. Not sure if the Xiaomi can, because it supposedly have a far more advanced mapping capability that creates your entire floor plan. Really I think you will find much better answers on a tech site. Asking in a Slickdeals vacuum thread will often give you good answers too.

Neato has a ‘Spot clean’ feature, where you set it down centered on the area you want cleaned and then it will clean an apr. 6’ x 6’ square around it dodging furniture/walls/etc.
Nothing on a per/room basis unless you set down magnetic strips across doorways to confine it to a room.

With the Neato D7 you can draw lines on a map in the app to create no-go areas.

I have seen these on TV, but think that they would not clean a carpet very well. Have you found that they deep clean a carpeted floor?
Thanks,
Jerry

I have wooden floors in most rooms, but it cleans the rugs perfect. We only use the normal vac 3 or 4 times a year to do the big clean outs . I remember myself being ashamed about the amount of dust it found in my house when I just got it.

Dang! We have an older generation without that feature. That’s pretty cool.
