Anyone looking forward to the film Halloween (2018)?

Wasn’t even aware it was coming out. Hopefully with it be 2019 it will have a good storyline. The Friday the 13th series took a dump after the 4th one and haven’t been worth watching but the last one was ok.

I don’t go to the movies anymore. But yeah, I’ll wait till it’s downloadable.

The Halloween series is usually pretty light on plot.

If you've seen any film in the series, you know how the story goes.

Even with very little plot, some of the movies are great horror films.

I especially like these five:

Halloween 1978

Halloween II 1981

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers 1988

Halloween H2O: 20 Years Later 1998

Halloween 2007

If you skip the other movies, you won't be lost in the plot because the plot is so thin.

I’ll just say that Michael Myers is a blast in Dead By Daylight :smiling_imp:

Looks like an interesting game.

Yes, I’m looking forward to this sequel. The first Halloween scared the heck out of me! And with Jamie Lee Curtis back again with this one, it should be good.

Once upon a time I would have been really looking forward to this, but movies don’t entertain me like they used to. Having said that, I will see it, but probably not until it’s available for streaming as I don’t go to the cinema unless I get free tickets.

There is another horror movie I wanted to see a while ago but I don’t know what it is called, I don’t even know if it is a horror movie. From memory it had a slight “The Hills Have Eyes” vibe and the only part of the trailer I remember had someone running away from a fence in an isolated area. Lol, I should start a guess a badly described movie thread.

I still like “Red Clover”.

Billy Zane’s awesome, the movie had some great tongue-in-cheek humor, it had a few good jump-scares, and even though the ending seemed a bit rushed, it was a fun romp.

The original “The Fog” was great, too. Wonderfully creepy, and Carpenter’s score adds so much to the movie itself.

What bugs me about movies like “Halloween” is that no one ever thinks, “Hey, this guy keeps coming back even though he gets a clothes-hanger in the eye, stabbed with a butcher-knife, shot in the chest a bunch of times, hit and/or run over by a car a few times, etc., so just take a shotgun and blow off the top of his head leaving just the neck-stump, so he won’t be coming back any more.”??

Then, just for good measure, maybe set him on fire and put the scorched corpse through a woodchipper. That’ll fix ’im…

Now, “Silent Rage” was awesome because it addressed this. The guy gets a huge (over)dose of a regeneration-drug, to the point of almost instant healing. So yeah, you kill ’im dead and he’ll still regenerate… as long as he’s intact.

Same dealy, cut off his head to at least slow him down (and what’s he gonna do, grow a new head on his body, and a new body from his head, like some crazed starfish??), then torch him ’til crispy-fried, give him the woodchipper treatment, then bury the leftover gooey bits and gristle in a concrete slab.

He won’t be coming back.

Horror movies like “The Bunnyman” were kinda kewl, because the title critter wasn’t superhuman or anything, just a nutjob, and his victims were such idiots and so richly deserving of horrific deaths that I was actually rooting for The Bunnyman to kill them off, just to end my horror.

So… new “Halloween”? Dunno. Maybe when I can order an “evaluation copy” to watch…

Oh, and if it’s a “reboot” or anything, then the writers can go DIAF. I hate when they do that.

Meh
Why can’t they come up with an original idea rather than churn out another cookie cutter sequel that has marginally better CGI and worse acting with no plot that you can remember the next day?

Sometimes I just like the super cheezy stuff like Toxic Avenger

I used to like horror movies when I was younger, but what Lightbringer says sums it up, and has put me off most horror movies.
These days a lot of horror is all 3D special effects and you know this while watching.
The best movies were the ones where they could create this atmosphere without you ever seeing anything.
The Shining was a good example of this - one of the best movies in my opinion.
The movie that most affected me was The Exorcist…
I was about 18 or 19 when I saw this and had to ride home afterwards on my motorbike on a lonely dark road through the woods.
I remember looking over my shoulder all the way home!

I hate fast zombies.
They are ’sposed to shamble!

That’s the distinction in genres between “horror” and “gore”.

I browsed one movie which was pure gore. Badguy hijacks a dinner-party of sorts, and tortures/dispatches the guests one after another, in turn, slowly. Eg, one, he puts a tourniquet around the guy’s leg and surgically amputates it (clamps off all the arteries, etc.) then leaves the guy there. Another he has slowly smothering with a plastic bag over his head (finally ends it by emptying a clip straight down into the guy’s melon). Another guest, he just gets annoyed with her and takes a hatchet to her face. Lots of fx, lots of splatter, not much “horror” to it, just gore.

True horror, sure, you could “fill in the blanks” and swear you saw the actual scene, but it never happened.

A good horror/thriller with almost no (that I could remember) graphic violence is “The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane”. Martin Sheen gets his comeuppance with nothing graphic, just implied creepiness throughout.

Y’know, I never saw that one start-to-finish. Amazing, huh?

But yeah, those are the flicks that are the best, the ones that give you the creeps without hammering it into your skull.

You want a kewl horror/thriller, check out “10 to Midnight”. Nothing graphic, all Hitchcockian violence (again, strongly implied, but you never see it), only at the very end when Mr Badguy (played perfectly by Gene Davis!) gets his comeuppance do you see anything explicit.

Anyone ever see “Srpski Film” (“A Serbian Film”)? There’s one infamous scene eeeeeveryone talks about, but it… Just… Didn’t… Happen! Again, it’s strongly implied, but you never see anything explicit! It’s like the-Mandela-effect in films!

Folks that like atmosphere: check out the unsung classic, Tarkovski’s Stalker. I guarantee you’ll be enthralled.

LOL…horror movies? Horror movies are best thing going for gathering with your buds any day in October and getting toasted and sht/faced while eating boat loads of Brats washed down with imported brewskys. Bring em on!!!

I refuse to join my wife in watching the current marathon of “The Walking Dead” over dinner

iffn we’re having anything with red in it. :confounded:

In the UK there is a cinema chain called Cineworld who do a season ticket for £17.90 ($20 or so) a month for as many flicks as you like. I’ve had a season ticket for 15 years or so. I used to go LOADS but the last few years since my latest little ones came along, not so much. I generally go a few times a month though so I get my moneys worth, bearing in mind a standard ticket is around £10 upwards.

One of the best horrors I’ve seen recently is “It follows” - an absolute masterpiece.

I may well go to see this latest Halloween with my 17 year old daughter, although Venom is next on the list (I’ve seen it already but would watch it again).

Anyone wants to see a kewl non-supernatural horror flick, czech out Big Bad Wolves.

It’s a dark dark comedy (watch the trailer for a preview), deals with a horrific subject, but has those comedic moments squeezed in to “lighten”(??) the mood.

It’s in Hebrew, so make sure you get the subs. Well, unless you speak Hebrew, I guess. Anyway, dialogue is fairly sparse, so you can just glance at the subs and still concentrate on the visuals (facial expressions, etc.).

The main guy looks like a badass Steve Carrell, so have fun with that!

Enjoy!
