GB Clone Offically "SOLD OUT" 10/21/18 XPL HI 1300LM Focusing AKA Cometa 2016

My two Cometa’s arrived, I checked one and it works. Nice Vappower batteries too. These hosts are going to be fun, never had a Cometa or Jaxman Z1 before

Superdeal!

I got mine yesterday with vappower cell. It has driver insulator correction and a floppy head. But for this price no complain.

This design does not have an o-ring in the zooming mechanism, and the limited amount of threading makes the head feel a bit loose. Perhaps much stiffer silicon grease would make it feel better.

But will it be greasy on hand when using the light?

No, the grease will be in the threading and does not come in contact with anything that is on the outside.

I tried packing with grease doesn’t really help much. Then it gets dirty with debris from dust and dirt looks yuck lol.

I do not have the light here. But from checking pictures i would guess that one or two o-rings could help. Not if zoomed out completly but i would think about 90% of travel way would be stabilized.

I have used them for walking around at night, no rattling sound and very easy to turn the zoom head single handed. I think if someone were to use it for jogging or cycling, then the loose head is an issue.

Bump ;-)

Any further spots I should check before using the Cometa?

Those should cover all.
Beware of sticky switch though, might make you think something shorted when light suddenly turn off itself.

:+1:

The cells are decent but apparently not high drain? Good for like 10amps?

You could probably also use Teflon tape on the zoom function.

Hmm, Teflon tape, that is an option. But it may wear away fast because it is not meant for continuous friction.

@DENGOH, fireblade893:

Thanks for the tip on configuration. Sorry to say I need to develop further the right touch of short clicks. The difficulty reminds me of the short click problem I had with BLF A6 getting into configuration. Keep reminding that I will get the right short click touch eventually.

Obvoiusly you aren’t trying to make full on / off clicks are you ?

My current “light” touch is not light enough. I am currently either ‘too heavy light’ or ‘no light’.

The more I use this light, the more I realize this has to be one of the BEST flashlight deals of all time!

No problem. Just to be clear, it should be short tap like half press, no clicking sound at all. If there is clicking sound it’s actually a full click.

Yes!

And maybe check the retaining ring at the tailcap. If srewed in to hard it could lead to a pre pressed switch. Had this problem with my F3X. It was not possible to switch trough the ui the normal way. It was jumpy and often you made 2 instead of one push.
Try to loose the retainer ring a bit. If it is getting better and the retainer ring is still holding problem solved. On the F3X i had to use a new silikone cap (with shorter nob in the middle).

Remove retaining ring from tailcap and remove PCB with switch and spring.
Remove washer.
Remove rubber switch boot.
Cut 1mm from the rubber boot pressing post bottom.
Reassemble everything.
If it still doesn’t click but the switch clicked outside the light you need to cut more.
