Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

According to Gearbest, you can't run it on USB power alone. Here's the correspondence:

Dear ActiveAl,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding https://www.gearbest.com/led-solar-lights/pp_009306164569.html

Your original question is "Can this light be operated without batteries on USB power? Thanks!"

Here is the answer from Our Customer service Team:

"

Hello ActiveAl,

This product can be charged and you need to use it after charging.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

I was also curious so I contacted them through the Ask a Question link on the product page, and got a reply within 36 hours.

Agreed. Having a low mode is nice - I wish the Defiant light had it. But strobe? That’s idiotic unless maybe if you plan on using it as a disco light.

Also, to get back on topic: final update on that Defiant 500 lm utility light from HD: it ran for 72 hours non-stop on alkaline cells. Granted, the light output was fairly low after the first two hours or so, but still usable to find your way around in the dark, at least during the first 24-36 hours - roughly 10 lumen (guess).

Thanks. I also asked them a question, but never got a response. I was hoping they would just post the answer in the Q&A section on the product page.

I just noticed that dchomak hasn’t been on BLF for over 3 months now. Hope everything is ok with him. Unlike him not to post Home Depot deals for such a long stretch!

-Garry

Indeed, i always looked forward to his posts
I also hope all is well with him.

@pete7874 — When the gearbest light finally comes, can you let us know the color temperature as well as all the charging stuff?

I did not buy one.

Oops — that’s what I get for reading too fast. Maybe @Klotski will be able to help us out…

This is the one I bought https://www.gearbest.com/led-solar-lights/pp_009610562020.html?wid=1433363

-No light wont work with Micro USB without batteries it does with batteries installed.
-Micro USB is for charging the 18650 batteries only
-The 4 AA NiMH are not charged with Micro USB
-USB port is supply for power bank output
-UI starts in hi, low then strobe
-I was using some batteries from a laptop pull that measure 65.MM and they fit really loose.
I like the light and I am going to try and find one without the strobe function.

Oh my, he seemed to be around less frequently. But 3 months is more than just being busy.. I sure hope he has just been pulled away by a new interest. Man, I hope he is doing ok.

Ballpark lumen output?

I’ll wait for the Quadrosonic version then

Yeah, l sent him a pm a month ago and no reply yet.

I don’t have much to compare it and would only be guessing 250- 400 lumen its lights up a 8-10’ spot on the wall at at 6’ away.

Picked up new Defiant 1200 lumen flashlight, usb powerbank flashlight combo x 2.

BTW, where’s Dmchock? He is the king of deals from Home Depot?

Dchomak hasn’t been on in over 4 months and I fear that is not a good sign! I’m sure he has been messaged and I fear the worst.

Hey all,

Found these shelves on sale, for 1 penny:

I got the last 2 at the Papillion, NE store and the sales lady didn’t want to sell them to me for 1 cent. Luckily the duty manager didn’t care. I didn’t know they were a penny when I went to pay for them, else I would have done self-checkout.

I saw these on the clearance rack:

I found these at the clearance rack of more than 1 store, they have been there for a while.

BTW - there’s a Milwaukee impact in the clearance listed for $210.00, is that the lowest it’s gonna go?

A three-pack of defiant 80-lumen headlamps is on sale at Home Depot for $9.97. Check this post for the link and a short review. Somehow we now have two Home Depot threads - one is just for flashlights.

I looked to see if I had his address since he had sent me a light . I was surprised that I couldn’t find his address since I consider him a true friend here on the forum.

If anyone has it You can pm me and I’ll drop him a note in the mail.

In my mind he’s either “ lost his mind n muttering ‘penny penny penny ‘ at a home depot “ ... ‘“ too busy to be posting on BLF” or died in his garage pinned to the wall when 4 pallets of Ryobi drills toppled over and now he’s in heaven watching over all the home depots he loved so dearly .

Clearly a truly great BLF member who is missed no matter the circumstances.

PM Sent

Agreed,
-Garry
