Australia Based Deals / Info / Links / Discussion

Thanks for the tip, Everyday
I think they are selling fast…

I rushed down to my nearest Bunnings, but they were sold out even though their website said they had stock.
They told me which other stores had some left and I scurried to another store and managed to get the last 2 on the shelf.
This will save me looking for USB chargers around the house all the time for phones, tablets etc.
I have plenty of USB cables lying around.

Thanks everydaysurvivalgear.

Seems like every stores are sold out but I was lucky to snatch the last 3 from Bunnings in Thornleigh

Hey lads Aldi has the 4amp hour battery packs coming up for special buys in a week or so. They might be worth buying to pull apart and score the 10 samsung 18650s inside. Works out cheaper than buying the cells individually.
They are 4 USD at IMRbatteries

I got a 4ah pack from Aldi Brandon Park for $29.99 last weekend. They had 20odd there. Haven’t pulled it apart yet
Edit: Looks like Samsung 20Q in the Aldi pack I got

Pretty much the same cells one of them will be a bit newer release date. They will be best used in lights like the Q8 where you run a parallel setup or a high drain device. The capacity stays around 2amp hour even at 20amp current draw.

These are the 20r here.

Hi Guys,
May I ask what these Aldi battery packs are originally for?
Are they power banks or for power tools etc?
I might have a look out for them.

They are for tools from when Aldi has the power tool sales. I think these battery packs at $30 are coming close to cost price.

Bunnings has just price matched Aldi battery prices but i am not sure what cells are inside. Probably brand name cells, could be LG or even the same cells but i can’t say for sure.

This pack should contain 10 cells of unknown batteries.

Cheers Mate

Someone on ozbargain pulled a Bunnings pack and said these were inside

Links broken?

There are not many Aldi stores in Perth as they are relatively new in WA.
Over the weekend I went to 2 stores to find that they were sold out of battery packs and tools.
A staff member said that they only get them in from time to time and they sell out quickly.
He gave me next weeks specials catalogue and they should be available in store from Saturday 20 Oct.
I’m assuming that the catalogue applies to all of Australia and not just WA stores.

I took this photo from the catalogue:

Anyone found any deals on 21700 batteries? I still haven’t purchased one for the FFPL47 yet. Where you guys getting yours? Samsung 40T’s seem to be the best

I bought a couple of these.

When I bought them I got two for $27.00.

Interesting brand lol, thoughts on them? Any idea what cell is under that wrapper?

A bit worried ’cause I ordered 4 x 14500 & 8 x AA NiMh as well on individual orders, paid separate shipping for each assuming they’d send 3 packages. Instead they’ve sent them as one pack - hope it gets on the plane.

The 14500 was value for money, $21.62inc GST and delivery, measured 855mAh last night from one that came with SP10A/SF14v2.0

Here is HKJ’s review.

Thanks!
His final thoughts are that it isn’t a high current cell…isn’t this PL47 very similar to the D4 and D4S in the way that it’s super powerful and draws big current? The XPL HI says it’s 5000 lumens, basically the same as the Emisar which definitely needs high drain cells

G’day Aussies,
Hope you all had an awesome Xmas and New Years.

Quick question: who are you guys getting your 18650’s from these days? Need to restock on 30Q’s soon and just wondering who can get them into Australia at the moment.

Banggood is the only reliable source I think

We will all meet in China and buy a bunch of cells and tape them to out bodies lol.

When we are caught we can make up a bunch of puns? Well I’m shocked! This was a Shockingly bad idea.
