Have you seen this 3 x XHP70 soda can light before? (similar to Haikelite MT03)

Not at the price that i am shooting for at about rmb 300 (43usd or below). It would be a practical budgetlight league for sure. There is also a practical side of things as i do not like to use my expensive stuffs out there for “trashing”.

The efficiency with gunning a single XHP70.2 to 7k lumens is already gonna be…… :weary: Gonna gain throw of course.

The UI is not too bad, of course it’s not like the BLF Q8. There is not too much duplication to the Q8 in real world apps also as this would be quite a fair bit floodier.

The other one that i am shooting for is Nightwatch NA40, about usd 39. 6000 lumens 3 x SST-40. Another budgetlight that i can really use outside + fit into the pant pockets even more easily, and uses 1 x 26650 so i don’t have to get another set of 4 x 18650($$:money_mouth_face: for it.

Personally, I would just buy this light as a host.

Thanks for the test. It would be good to see a comparison with the other multi-emitter lights where all have freshly charged cells.

That’s charging 15 cells all at once. Was too lazy last night. Sad thing is I can charge that many at once even without breaking out the Lii402. What have I become!

Might try out the dedicated lux meter too. It was pretty close to the s7 sub 1000lux but over 1000 lux it started showing much higher readings

3 x XHP 35 HI swap? Haikelite MT09R 3 x XHP 35 but with more throw? Haikelite MT07S 1 x XHP70.2 netural white but with more throw and possibly more lumens?

Economical enough too as long as the light’s base price is low enough. I am wondering if the focus is going to be ok, anybody has come across similar mods? (single or multi emitter)
Thermals need to be perfect though, maybe need a sand-down of the host-emitter surface and using all the known tricks. I think this light stock is gunning ~ 20W to each emitter, thus gonna be overdriving the XHP35 HI decently on the stock driver, which is of course what we want.

Anyway, for single XHP70.2 generally available lights, the Haikelite MT07S gets 4500 lumens in neutral white (usd 52 lowest price that i could get). The Acebeam K60 thrower (88mm head anyway) is 5000 lumens in CW.
Not apple-to-apple comparios, but just for ref.

Talking about low base price, the sellers i have asked on Taobao would not go below rmb 318.

I wanted rmb 268, usd 39  A lucky number in Cantonese. Shipping would be part of my consolidated forward order from the Dongguan Guangdong warehouse that i use, ie very cheap. Even without modding, i believe playing with a usd 39 6000-7000 lumen stock light is pretty decent. (might comfortably hit 7k with spring bypasses), comparing to things like the BLF Q8’s best price.

Sigh….maybe i shall wait till the end of the year and try again.

You can do it with just 4 cells and things like the Miboxer C4-12A. 3 amps each channel is possible on the lowest internal resistance cells like the VTC5A till the very last bit.
Pop the used cells into the charger, grab a coffee and within 5 minutes you ought to be able to start on the next light.

@2100, do you want an even lower price for the MT07S XHP70.2?

Go on M4DM4X.com and sign up. You’ll get it for 46,50$.

Just checking things out buddy, M4DM4X.com is new to me and would be very useful. Just came back to the hobby after a few years break. Thx for the heads up!

This reflector is very shallow and OP. I think it would make a terrible thrower.

Yeah i suppose so. At this size, even after consider all options to mod etc, it’s like trying to be a jack of all trades but a master of none.

The soda can size is pretty ok though. Taking the Mateminco MT18 with its 72mm head for eg, that is really quite a bit on the big side to use practically and then “stuff it into the pocket”.

One thing I didnt like on MT03 was the very thin LED shelf, is this copied or thicker?

Of course on of my new MT03/09S DD+small 300mA FET drivers with BLF firmware would be an option when battery is 2S/2P

Ok, did it again with fresh batteries for ROT66, 2xQ8 & Fake MT03 aka Q30.

30Q's in Q8's, VCT6 in ROT66 & Q30

Measured on Lux app on Samsung S7 & LX1010BS. ROT66 stepped down before 30sec, didn't catch the number

7.2% drop after 30 seconds for this Q30 at about 6500 lumens, vs Sofirn Q8’s 6.1% (~4500 lumens). Taking BLF Q8 to be 5000 lumens exactly.
My BLF Q8 steps down in 3 mins exactly most of the time +/- 10 seconds.

Not too bad. Should be able to hit comfortably over 7k lumens with bypass,

I need such a light (floodie) for the constant hot weather here.
Was already gunning > 10 mins 2 nights earlier with the Q8.

I can go with the MT03/MT09R etc, but it wouldn’t really be practical/useful for the majority of the time, both size wise (MT09R) and heat wise. Prob only for just 20-30 seconds bursts, esp during the time when the light already is warm with previous lower power uses, unless if i have a water source nearby for host cool-downs.

I already have a lot of experience with my 3pcs of DRY triple XM-Ls gunning at close to 5 amps direct-drive (3S) at the tail in 300g smaller hosts last time, so i more or less know what to expect.

Now to ask for more discounts from the seller(s)……

Bro Sillen, do you think you could help me with a favour?

Could you pls switch on both the BLF Q8 and this Q30 and duration it takes to hit the thermal regulation point? Both shd be at 55 deg C setting. If you have access to a IR thermo then that’d be even better. Else the auto thermal regulation point is fine.

This is to find out how efficient those chinese 7070 LEDs are.

Thank you!

The BLF Q8 can vary the thermal step down point depending on how off the internal temperature probe is. It is set in software for 55°C, but it could easily go above or below that unless you set it yourself.

Yep for sure it might be off, besides the Q30’s temp probe might be a bit off too. But it’s probably still somewhat alright if i am just after a ballpark figure.

Sillen just replied me that his IR thermo is still on the slow boat. heh……. So i’ll just make do whatever he has presently.

Best Price of this flashlight here: https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10057938/9677113-romeashai-q3-high-power-led-flashlight

Except that FastTech is lying about the LEDs - those aren’t XHP70s.

I would just spend a little more and buy myself an Astrolux MF01 - real chips, real Lumens and a quality light over all

I’m not saying that these chinese 7070s in my link are the same as what is used in the chinese lights, but they might give you an idea. There are 18W and 30W variants, 1.44usd and 3.46usd respectively.
