Many individuals possessing a Y chromosome may have some degree of abnormality, even if they don’t know it. Which is why, when choosing colourful things, it is always best to also consult someone with two X chromosomes.
The odd thing is that this doesn’t seem to translate to painting, or fashion design, or cinematography and colour-ism, where the XYs historically totally dominated. But that is changing. Rapidly.
I think I have pretty good colour vision,
Edit: despite being mostly a blue-eyed blonde Angle. With a big dose of Scandinavian.
But I expect my corneas are ageing, and my retinas getting a bit frazzled (though my eyes have been protected from UV all my life, due to wearing suitable glasses for my short sight, specified by my uncle, a very senior eye-surgeon.)
As for use in very low modes, where only the rods are working, not the cones, it is moot.
Back to the point, as TK has said, this is just another triple with a http://www.carclo.co.uk optic. (A great British company by the way, within spitting distance of me). Dressed up in a fancy looking suit that might be durable. So don’t expect any surprises.
But with a next-gen driver and TK’s firmware. Which is the attraction for me.
PS:, I’m trying to limit myself to 1 post per day. And avoid grumpiness, as far as possible.
My previous experience with very yellow NW lights has put me off from them. I have come to find 5700K is okay (xhp70.2 and xpl).
I put a Nichia 219C D280 80+ CRI 5000K behind a 60° pebbled TIR in a headlamp and really like it. Except for the lower output. For headlamp use I need good color rendition. I sometimes have to identify wire colors in automotive use where CW is not the best choice. I might try a SAMSUNG LH351D 4000K 90CRI LED in a headlamp. I don’t think I’ll loose much output and maybe get even better color rendition? I hope it’s not yellow! Lol
Also, I guess I’m lucky I don’t notice PWM.
I have yet to find anyone on BLF with my particular preferences.
About the FW3A, mostly just waiting still. I hear Lumintop wants to adjust a part by half a millimeter, and needs Fritz to update the CAD model… so kinda just waiting on that.
My problem is that I don’t know anyone selling this led on a mcpcb. I can buy the led from MTN E and the mcpcb from led4power, but I can’t put them together (reflow). Do you know of anyone selling this combo?
Arrow sells 5000K 90 CRI. They don’t sell it on an MCPCB though. It does work on XP/219 size MCPCBs.
I’m not sure what to suggest other than learning to reflow. It does not take a great deal of skill or special equipment. Here’s a demo of reflow with a lighter. If you’re concerned about breaking stuff, Arrow has cheap LH351Bs and you can test for functionality using a lithium button cell and a couple wires.
Hum, despite I get your point, and despite trusting the team, I guess we may be talking about modding this before the FW3A is completed/ out for sale/ delivered.
Even this is my specific case, and even if I don’t know how it will look with the XPL or the LH351 emitters, I am sure (well, 95% at least) that I will probably mod it with Luxeon V emitters just because I love how they make the beams look!!
Brainstorming about modding is something that may even help the FW3A Team to get some nice things on the final version of the flashlight, be it UI, look, internals, emitters…
And, again, being a fan of this project despite delays and all the stuff involved, I trust, appreciate and thank the work done and to be done! :+1:
