Astrolux S43 - New model (On Sale)

It’s not “bears”: it’s drop bears

Are there stand alone charge pcb’s like this for sale anywhere?

Not that I am aware of. The design will be uploaded open source but not sure it will do any good as I can not find the IC they wanted to use outside of the china. The only way I was able to test it was with the prototype they sent me.

Thanks TA

Got one in today and the switch light is on when light is off - don’t have to change anything - and I now have protection against drop bears

Lucky you! Mine arrives in Melbourne last Friday but Australia Post haven’t delivered yet, awaiting clearance, so I’m still vulnerable!

Yes, they made a last minute change and now the indicator LED works like it should.

The looks of this thing wasn’t enough to override all of the goodness in it and keep me from ordering a couple of these. They’ve shipped, but I’m still waiting for them to arrive. Perhaps we’ll get lucky and the BG/Mateminco folks will read this forum and in addition to the smaller battery tube, they’ll offer an additional tube (can you say prototype?) that can be ordered later. That way we’d get all that this offers with a much better looking light.

Nah, just change out the head from the S42 to the S43.

That would be a great change already. And ask them to make a solderable tailcap for the spring lol. It’s impossible to solder to aluminium in a flashlight, and I want to replace the single phosphor bronze spring for a much more capable dual BeCu spring array.

I just looked in NealsGadgets @ M4DM4X and the 18650 tube that is being offered with the Mateminco S03 looks to be the same one that was in the photo of the prototype. Does anybody know if this is the same light, and the tube would work? Or how to contact Mateminco to see if they offer the tube only for sale? Just curious.

Yes, the S03 is the prototype light, with a few minor changes.

Just got my S43 today. Awesome UI. So much better than the S42. The stock photo is a horrible angle; it looks symmetrical and balanced in person. Can’t wait for the Special Metal editions. I’d even like to see a full COPPER of this.

PS wife loves a ramping UI, she took ownership of this one immediately. Back to the S42 for me.

Well, at least she knows where you’ll be putting some more money soon  :money_mouth_face:

Lol u know it.

I really like too that strobe is disabled by default. For the one time I’d ever need it, I’d turn it on accidentally a thousand times.

FYI the 18650 tube is longer than the prior Astrolux add-on versions. I was able to fit my protected cells easily. I tried an LG MJ1 and it fit great but didn’t have the amps to power turbo. I tried an Acebeam 3100 mAh and not only did it fit but has the amps for turbo. Finally a use for those longer batteries. Great upgrade this version!

Yes, very nice light. Ramping and NarsulM v1.3 gives great functionality

Glad to hear they are showing up and people are liking them! This was one of the more “interesting” projects I have worked on.

I can also say that some “special metal” versions are possible if there is demand for them, there were some interesting prototypes shown to me….

There is demand lol. Spill it

I am not sure what I am allowed to say, so better wait for a more official statement lol.

Copper version has been revealed! The S43S at Banggood. There are coupons available.

.

Looks great. Best price I see is the preorder for 39.95.

The problem is they’re not including the 18650 tube. I picked up the black anodized on preorder and it came with both tubes.

The 18650 tube is sold separately but listed as ‘coming soon’ for 3.50.

I don’t mind buying it for $3.50 but they should just include it in the preorder and charge $3.50 more. It’s a brand new torch, people will need the tubes. Also I don’t want to pay $12.00 to ship a $3.50 1oz tube once it’s in stock

I’m going to wait.
