Actually, I let it run for room lighting in the morning (~20 min) and then shut it off to leave. It was warm, nothing like a D4, and I removed the battery so it wouldn't suffer the heat for as long. When I got home and put the battery back in, I noticed the insulator was out of position.
The light has a lot of material but I'm still studying its' thermal distribution.
The worth of this light... like any light is the basic value of its parts .
The lens being the hardest part to find and never found cheaply 10-12$
the driver and lighted tailcap are another7-8$
Emitter 5$ Pill, body ,ano, assembly & shipping . This light was a sought after exciting custom light at the time for 40-45$
at 15$ it’s worth more than that just for the parts .
Enough has been said about this light and it’s issues that if anyone buys this light and blows themselves up because of it they deserve it and the worlds a better place without them .
Good grief, are you trying to compete with the Blackpool Illuminations in Wakefield ?
By the way, technically you have not purchased them yet. Under English law an offer has to be made, then accepted, before there is a binding contract. I think you will find that you have not passed the second step. Yet.
Edit: unless you met a BG person and shook hands on it (a handshake is still enough for a binding contract here, and my preferred method. Or a PM). It’s still a matter of honour, a bit like gambling debts, which are un-enforceable here, but word will get out if you renege. Old fashioned I know, but it keeps the world turning around, for now, despite a few idiots who have reached very senior office, but have shown that they are utterly clue-less and have no class.
Or do you have a cunning plan to get rich quick, maybe talk to Sir Alan Sugar and see what he thinks.
I suppose they might eventually turn up, via a circuitous route. Keep us posted (so to speak).
Don’t get yourself all fired up over someones negativity. He is a grumpy and lonely old man that has probably never said or typed a positive thing in his life. Negativity is contagious if you leave yourself open to it and he is just the kind of aggressive cancer that can take hold of you if you let him. I just ignore his juvenile games and continue to enjoy these forums and share something positive when I can.
I ordered one. I’m not a zoomie or super thrower type user but, it was hard to pass up at the price. Of course it now says it’s back ordered. Which is fine. It will get here when it gets here. I am in no hurry. I also don’t care if it’s a clone of a clone or stolen parts from someone else. That is just the way it goes in China. They all do it everyday. Just makes prices cheaper because now there is some competition. Just think of all the C8’s running around, all of them a copy of the original.
T18, you have yourself a good day and don’t sweat the little things. Tom Tom is definitely one of the little things.
Ok now i agree with tom tom . This transaction hasn’t been completed till i get to twisting lights for throw and enter into full blown buyers remorse . If perchance that doesn’t occur then subtle brooding that I should’ve bought a few more might remain instead
Either way lets be not happy together ... lets fret about the possible issues and worry that we may not be happy with our purchase . Knowing all the while that it’s the only course of action we can take . Damn grumpy is hard .
Our only solice remains in the hope that when we’ve passed on someone will finally know that we had unwittingly purchased a few great lights .. ones almost as good as their Atomic Beams /nebo lights and Big Larrys .
Cometa — > In Italian I think it means ..
catch a falling star and put it in your pocket gonna start the house on fire’
Now i got a mail from BG. They informed me that the Cometa is out of stock. They refunded the money (nice i already ordered leds for the host).
They told me i could buy the light from UK warehouse. Sure for 2x the price!!! This is soooo fu…… up BG!!
Do they really think we are a stupid herd of sheep? Thanks BG :+1:
Hey Docc, I have bought two Cometa’s and could spare one, but shipping to Germany is 13 euro, so that would just as well double the costs, that does not help. I just mention it so if you or someone you know are by any chance coming near Amsterdam one of these days you can pick it up.
Thanks.
I will ask my uncle if he still workes a few days a month in NL (he workes for Hoya). If he is no longer working in NL i want to ask Paul for a Z1 Host (23,55€ for a Cometa is to much!). Before i spent ~24€ on a Cometa i add a few bucks and buy a Z1! Could be interesting to see the lights side by side. But i was hoping to see the Rebel Lime and the LCG H9RN side by side in the same host.
One Question off topic.
I searched BLF about a coated lens for the 1504. There was a lot of posts about the light and MEM did a custom run on lenses. . . . but all links i can find are dead or lead to nothing.
Has anybody a tip where i could get a good lens like a K9 ar coated for the 1504?
