[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

The head diameter is pretty close to the E01, and reportedly you can use a chapstick cap as a diffuser on that light. That will probably reduce the lumens more than a dedicated diffuser, but in a pinch, it should be an option.

I think that given the price point of about 6 bucks. I would easily take 2 or 3 of these. I’m not the biggest fan of twistys now that there are so many side switch lights. But I think that for the few dollars they cost, they wild make back up, back up lights, glove box lights, tool box lights and gifts.

As a newbie to all this I would take 4 off the 5600k. 1 for each member of my family.

Is there an option to omit the tritium? I am not opposed to it, but will not be able to carry it into work…

Also, will the “reflector” portion of the head be polished any further than the 200grit that it currently appears to be?

The light will no have tritium or a magnet installed from factory, it’s up to the buyer to put those in themselves.

As said above, there’s holes in the tail of the light to put put a magnet and/or a titium vial in yourself, but neither is provided. The reflector will not be further polished. The polishing idea was way more relevant for the design idea to make the reflector parabolic than it is for the simple cone that is the final shape, you will probably see no positive effect of polishing in the current design, or even worse, it may introduce beam artefacts.

But you make me wonder what stops you going to work with a AAA-twisty with trit installed?

Maybe “hazardous chemicals” are banned at his workplace? :person_facepalming:

Please add me to the list for 2 of each lights. Thanks. PJ

Could be something more reasonable like he’s working around sensitive measuring equipment. There has to be some medical scanners you should not have that stuff around.

Yeah, it was just my failed attempt at a joke. Carry on, folks. Nothing to see here.

Nuclear power plant. Tritium is a radioactive isotope of Hydrogen, and could set off sensitive monitors in certain locations. And since literally everything is taken very seriously, in the name of nuclear safety, then setting off or causing a monitor to alarm could be a big deal.

Thanks for the info guys. The question on reflector polishing was just a curiosity, I see that it may not help, but rather potentially cause some adverse effects.

Please add me for two in 5600k. Thanks!

 I expected all the possible answers containing myths an paranoia, but not the only valid reason not to want a tritium vial at work.

Yeah, that was definitely NOT expected! :stuck_out_tongue:

Nuclear power plant or navy nuke crew member was my first guess, followed by a nuclear medicine department.

Haha, you guys are funny! I used to also keep one of those tritium vials on my keychain, but not anymore. Now I’m wondering what the myths and paranoia are all about? I guess side discussions are okay if we are just waiting on updates…

Please add me to the list for 5 if they come in at $6 before Christmas or 3 if they come in under $10.

Sofirn is trying to make it before 11.11 which is known as double eleven deal day on aliexpress! I believe 5-6 weeks before Christmas is long enough to arrive.

Hope everything will be as planned.

Thanks for the insight, Barry! :+1:

I would like my name down for 2 of each tint please?
