Haikelite MT02 mod suggestions please.

I won this MT02 in a giveaway quite a few months ago. It’s a great little light, I like it a lot. Turned it on the other day and all was well for a few seconds and then the beam and tint went all to hell. Looked down at the LED and there is a big old black spot on the emitter. Guess it had a weak one or something in there. So I was going to just jump on Mountain Electronics site and grab a new emitter. Then I got to thinking. Well maybe there is a better LED or other mod I can do to this light to make it perform a bit better. So I guess I am just looking for some suggestions. I have decent electronic skills and most of the tools and supplies I need to do just about anything besides machine work. I am not scared of spending a little money to make this light unique. I will probably never get rid of it so I don’t mind making it my own and knowing I will never get my investment back out of it.

I am open to any suggestions and maybe some links for parts and whatnot.

This emitter right on the BBL line, at 4500k and 80CRI. The beam produced is very nice:

I wouldn’t want to boost the output at all.

My Haikelite MT01 can sustain turbo output indefinitely while not getting too hot with hand sinking. So, just replace the LED of your MT02 with an XHP35Hi, and you will get a beautiful light you will really like.

Texas_Ace did my MT03, by far the best light in my stable. VERY trustworthy person. Not sure what he’s up to these days.

Thank you. That is what I was originally going to do. I did like the fact as you mentioned, that you can run it on turbo forever it seems and it doesn’t get super heated. I see the LED you linked is also dedomed. I was going to ask about that as well but you covered that question as well. Seems like this might be the most logical choice.

I thought about dropping him a note and asking him his thoughts. I know he is probably busy but, I may end up seeing what he thinks.

I don’t like the LED of MT02 and believe that a HI emitter with nice tint would suit the light better…

If you want to go totally over the top here’s the tterev3 version:

Any more info about this build? What are the Leds?

I’ve been meaning to do a write up on it, I’ll probably post more info soon. The leds are an XP-L for the main beam plus XQ-E HI for color and a lux uv part in 405nm
