(prototype) the GT Mini

That ring looks very much different to mine. As some of you had some issues with the side switch, mine still works but there's one situation when it refuses to do something. Maybe some of you can try this with your own GT minis. If you ramp down to lowest output, let go of the switch and immediately press it again...then nothing happens. It won't ramp up again. I guess it has something to do with a certain time that has to go by before it ramps into the opposite direction again. So, in a nutshell: Ramping up and down just by keeping the button pressed would not work here. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense as NarsilM jumps into configuration mode after pressing the button for 8s or something like that.

where did you purchase yours? I contacted Neal but still waiting

I bought mine from Neal. I'm still waiting for a response. I wrote him via e-mail and PM on BLF.

I just put the new OBF successor in my BLF GT Mini. The max I measured was 282k cd. But with a protected battery at 4.1V the current is already at 6A at the tailcap. Iā€™ll see if I modify the firmware to reduce the max output to 80% PWM. But the LED scaled all the way up to 100%, so Iā€™m wondering what the actual limit is.

of successor?

please clearify

Oslon Black Flat successor with the cryptic name: CSLNM1.TG
Took me one hour to get the emitter centered, but the beam is perfect now. No ugly rings or anything.
I donā€™t know if the height of the reflector is correct. But the last time I lowered a reflector, I took too much off the centering ring and had to bring it back up with tiny Kapton strips, not my favorite task. :person_facepalming:

Hello everyone!

I have a problem with temperature meter in my GT mini torch. My GT mini blinks 30 degrees when the real temperature is about 15 degrees. Has anyone the same problem? Is it possible to calibrate temperature meter by user interface? I have a big BLF GT too and it measures temperature perfectly.

It will always be off. Itā€™s no big deal. You can set the step down temperature to whatever you prefer.

JasonWW thanks for your reply. Iā€™m searching now for information how to calibrate temparature meter to show real temerature properly. Temperature meter is a nice function for me and i would like to calibrate it. Has anyone the same problem with temperature meter?

Nobodies light reads the correct temperature. This function was never meant to be used as a thermometer. Iā€™m not even sure why it was added as a function.

The only way to fix it is to reflash the driver to Anduril which has a way to let you offset the temperature calibration.

So now itā€™s time to add to narsil firmware new function - termometer calibration:).

I think that it is a good feature to measure real temperature of driver inside the pill.

No, the software does not allow it. You would have to switch to Anduril.

There is no real reason for a calibration. You donā€™t set the thermal stepdown to a number, you set it by how hot it feels, or by a time limit.

The only reason ToyKeeper built a calibration tool in Anduril was to make it easier at the factory to get consistent thermal stepdown temperatures.

Now that Tom E does not visit here much, there will be no big upgrades to NarsilM. Luckily ToyKeeper is still around and she is able to make upgrades to her D4 (RampingIOS) and Anduril, etcā€¦ User Interfaces.

My BLF GT measures temperature properly so I thought tha GT mini should do it also. My GT mini has temperature mistake over 10 degrees.

Where is the thermal sensor on GT mini board?

I think itā€™s just a lucky coincidence your big GT reads so close to accurate. They can sometimes read plus or minus 15Ā°C.

The temperature sensor is inside the Atiny85 mcu.

I have 3 lights using Narsil and I think Iā€™m lucky as they only vary about 5Ā°C between them. It is the luck of the draw if it happens to read close to accurate.

So, here another picture of my GT mini that has an off-centered XP-L HI. Until today, I have not received any response from Neal. :-(

I just hope that bezel can be unscrewed somehow by using a strap wrench. What do you guys think? Is it worth the effort or should I leave it as is?

The spot on the wall looks quite patchy but my camera won't be able to capture this for the sensor will automatically adapt to the intense brightness.

Intense brightness? Turn it down real low.

Does it really affect the beam? it must be minor differences or am i wrong ?

I don't know how to really describe it. One half of the spot's rim (zone between spot and spill) is a bit eclipsed and the other half looks as if the brightness "bleeds out" into the spill. I need to fiddle about the right camera settings to make this visible on photo.

Try turning down the ISO to 100.

I think what youā€™re describing is a lopsided corona.

I opened up a friends GT mini for him and removed the driver, flashed Anduril. Now, I know good and well that my own did not react well to Anduril being flashed and I even lost the light at the switch. But wouldnā€™t you know it, this one flashed perfectly! The green light came on when I clipped on the Pamona clip, went off when the flash was in progress, came back on when it was done. The light works perfectly. Have no idea what would be different but of course my own was much more problematic, even much more difficult to remove the bezelā€¦ this one the bezel came off pretty easily.

And so it goesā€¦
