ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

Hi

anyone tried this one ?
https://www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-folding-knives/pp_009425635227.html?wid=1433363

native look with linerlock (i don’t like lock back)
any good ? compare to enlan/srm/ganzo in the same prize range

thanks

I’m sorry guys for the (stupid) question but…are you able to buy (again) knives from Gearbest ???
If I click the link or search knives on GB, it tell me “suspended”.
Have GB resolved his problems with knives? I remember it was some mess with the selling of knives…
Thank you!

The link works for me and i received my last GB knife order (a Land 9104) yesterday.

Btw anotherbot i do not understand why you say your link is liner lock as it is written "back lock" in the description and the pictures don't show the liner lock

I have found the answer by myself…Some others italian guys from a Facebook ’s group about Ganzo knives explain me there is a customs dispute between Gearbest and the italian custom….So, at this moment, no one from Italy (so not only me) can buy any kind of knives from GB!
Now we can buy only from DHGate (I do not like it) Aliexpress or Fasttech. But no one can beat GB prices/deals!!
:person_facepalming:

Sorry for you Italian guys, must be something serious so that they decide to block a whole country :person_facepalming:
Do you know any more details about it?

yes Kame Sennin, everything is hidden like the pictures from aliexpress

but you can see the linerlock in the video in comment

I decided to mod my Ganzo F7551 “Cleaver”:

and the result (more pics here):

Looks much better now :+1:

clean work. I love it.

Really cool mod!

+1

CH, TwoSun, Dicoria, MG, and Lovocoo are very nice from solid sellers.

AgentSteel, tu_army, PBWilson
Thank you!
I could try to give the blade a stone washed finish but I’m not sure about that. Probably I’ll leave this one as it is.

Isti, good job, it remembers me to the HX OUTDOORS ZD - 004 a bit.

As a BENCHMADE loyal customer and EDCer seeing these Axis lock clones is a bit disturbing…

Not a fan of value for money?

Thanks!
I wanted to keep as much as possible of the original blade width otherwise I would have gone for version “B”.

Why exactly? Because McHenery and Williams chose tp sell the licence exclusively to Benchmade?
Or because you’re one of the few who thinks IP laws are only really good for anyone else but IP lawyers?

Just imagine Mr Walker would have decided to patent his improved liner lock system?
Would there be a Sebenza or such a big modern knife market at all?
I heavily doubt it. Would there be much more Axis lock knives if it was same free to use as the liner lock? I doubt it as well.
On the other hand the locking system would see improvements over the years, just like the other free systems do.

It’s also funny how times are changing. Buck were the ones to invent (or at least popularize) the lockback with the model 110 Folding Hunter.
Nearly every big knife maker (and many small ones, too) copied it with only the name on it being different.
Did it hurt Buck knives? Another doubt.

So is it that someone spends a lot of cash for such a special locking system (which is not so special after all if you see the Arc lock or LionSteel’s Axis lookalike with a different system) only to see that you can get a similar knife for so much less? Oh yes, the quality is not the same, but is it 10x better?

Come now, are you seriously applying logic here!?

Not really. I justify myself buying the TwoSun TS51 for $43 even though I didn’t need another knife with the fact that it’s a great herb cutter.

Probably it will be the same when I’ve bought by Sony XZ2 Compact as my S4 mini’s speaker is broken.
I mean, seriously, six years old phone and such a failure? Where’s the quality of the good ole days with the tin can telephone?

Frankly I like US made tools and I like Benchmade. I wish to encourage more US manufacturing. Even Benchmade utilizes foreign manufactures for their HK line and other offshoots. This wasn’t a dig on value or innovation. Frankly, I would like to see some of their best clones up close and what they do better. What could you recommend? Do any clones have Bohler or Crucible steels?
