Unfortunately, repeated/exaggerated/outrageous/excessively flamboyant violence/gore tends to inure the viewer and requires even more to illicit a visceral response.
The US has some, uh, interesting ideas about content ratings and what counts as obscene or unhealthy. It’s considered okay to show violent murders but not okay to show a nipple.
In either case though, it’s easier to see with a good flashlight.
See how I got us back on topic there? Smooooooth.
On FW3A proto1, I had issues with the battery losing contact when I placed the light on a hard surface, because it had a weak spring at the back and a post at the front. There were also issues with the driver. Those were both fixed in proto2, along with some other improvements. After putting a layer of Kapton tape around the front of the inner tube, it has been functioning pretty much perfectly ever since. It makes a really nice EDC. And in theory, proto3 should remove the need for Kapton tape.
I’m not 100% sure what changed between proto2 and proto3 though, because Cawi’s description of proto3 sounded exactly like proto2. I think there was some sort of initial issue, but I’m fuzzy on the details, and it sounds like it has been working fine ever since.
I’m still hoping for a nice diffuser wand so I can use the FW3A as a candle.
It would also be useful for waving down taxis and such, but mostly I just want it to work as a candle. None of the diffuser attachments I’ve found fit right.
It’ll probably be too yellow for you, but I use a rubber protector from an old streamlight NiCd battery as a diffuser on an S2+. Its especially useful along with the bike flasher mode!
