EDSG-6th Annual BLF / Old Lumens HandMade Light Entry (finished)

Making flashlights is dangerous work!

Man, you got it all over CRX when it comes to the injury points!! :+1:

Looks like you had an ingrown fingernail, and instead of going to the doctor, you decided you would take care of the problem yourself!

We should start a thread on injuries sustained during our beloved modding endeavours

Good luck with the build…and the recovery  :+1:

Thanks mate!

I thought who ever had the worse injury wins a prize? lol

I am going to try and move my drill press and sander out of the shed blow away all the metal chips with my mini blower. I will try not to stick my fingers in the blades lol

Ouchie :open_mouth:

I though you were doing the halloween prank.

Hope speedy recovery for u mate.

Heres to a speedy recovery edsg and on wards with the build. All the best.

This might be a good opportunity to mod your finger.
Good luck with finger and build!

Thanks lads! Went back to hospital and they cleaned and fixed it up again now its up to me to maintain lol.

Choosing an LED option
!

!

I bought all 3 SST20s tints to try and i have 2 left the 4000k and 6500k so ill probably use one of them. Or might use the XPG3 if i just want it bright.

Are you better, mate? Back to the build or not for now? Get better soon!! :+1:

Nice selection there :+1:

Hey mate still not the best its still bleeding here and there after almost 2 weeks but its healing. You can see it closing in.

Starting the build slowly. Cut the alloy down to size in two 8cm strips and sanded the sides nice and flat.

Shout out to my cheap soldering iron that stays outside. No way i am leaving the good one in the shed

Trying to get the LEDs centered lol

Okayyyyy don’t laugh but i stalled my drill press 3 times doing this to much RPM i think so i changed it to the 500rpm setting i am still getting use to owning a drill press. I used s stepper drill bit to get the optics to fit inside the front bezel. I find i have no feedback from the drill press i was using a vice to hold the bezel steady while drilling.

One drill press later lol

Its good to see you back on the road to recovery and the build continuing.

Due to my injury i deiced to make a normal torch i wanted to make a custom headlamp but i can’t work with my finger to well so i planned this on the go.

!

Bugger about your injury, but kudos to you for persevering :+1:

Looking at your finger, make sure to let it ‘breathe’ once in a while!
That white wrinkled skin is a sign of having it too long covered, or having it to tight on your finger.

+1. All the best Chris.

A re-design at the 11th hour?

Glad I’m not the only one flying by the seat of their pants
