DARKSIDE | NYMPH (10440 twisty Fet+1 flashlight w/ 4k 9050 219C)

The black box on the driver looks totally like a switch.

its a good oldschool AMC7135

Yeah, that’s a 7135 mounted upright… not a switch.

OK, thanks for clarification.

Twisty with a spring like the old school Surefire lights or with out the spring like the Zero Rez switch, that can be used as a twisty or push button if set up correctly. I have guppydrv. and guppydrv3 on most of my Surefire lights with stock or zero rez switch not a problem when it comes to changing modes or mode groups with the mechanical push button set up.

It’s not a dealbreaker or -maker as such, but he has a point
Everything else is very impressive. Please keep informing us of the (technical) updates.

As for now I’m quite tempted, but I’ll have to wait for the green/red light of my dealbreaker.

One thing that I think Hoop was going for with this light, was the aspect of a strong tiny work light that would tail stand. Unfortunately with a loop on the end that would not work and it is so tiny that the light would have had to be lengthened to allow for a side hole that would still allow tail standing.

I for one am glad to see a tiny light with good output that will tail stand!

I think he’s working on a magnet strong enough to hold the light solidly, so this might be a way to carry it… attached by magnet to a metal base on a lanyard or necklace.

Oh Yeah! A flat metal piece ( or another magnet) with a loop big enough to put a neck chain through. That makes it easier to use the light, too, since it works as a quick disconnect. Just make sure the magnet(s) is/are strong enough that it won’t come off accidentally from a “bump” or slight tug. It should take a decisive pull to get it to disconnect.

It’s a real shame the screws in my spine are Titanium, if they were stainless I could get two of these and use them as Dr. Frankendale lugs on my neck. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, people do put tiny magnets under their skin. There are magnets you can buy with appropriate bio-compatible coating for that purpose. They say that after a while your body learns how to use them to develop a “magnet sense” which is really cool.

Will this be “only” a kickstarter project?

Good work on it, btw

OMG that would be a kids dream come true! Not that screws in spines are cool, but being able to do that would be so cool!

Looks like I’ll be backing this project up too. For the amount of work being (the knurling for one) I think it is a fair price.

LightUpTheDark, have you seen video on the light? He turns it around and around and the knurling captures the light like diamonds! Very very fancy schmancy! Love it!

Hoping the 7075 Al takes ano to please him, the dang thing would be virtually bulletproof…

It’s a twisty, but it is possible to do user configuration with other firmware. Originally it was going to use guppydrv but for several reasons I moved away from that. The user configurability worked fine even with twisty action, but also it could be done quickly by just barely untwisting the light enough to lose contact, then tapping the back of it like it were a button. I moved from guppydrv because: I wanted to drop the OTC as it seemed to present some timing issues, the LVP didn’t have a real cutoff and will drain batteries down below 2.0V, and the configurability was tied in with battcheck and so was not very user friendly to get to battcheck.

For the stock light I wanted a simple non configurable firmware with plenty of modes and battcheck. If you’re an enthusiast you can reflash it. Crescendo should work A ok on this. I have a version of this driver in the works that will use an ATTiny85 but this will be a later development.

There’s no lanyard hole because I did not want this to be a keychain light but rather an edc pocket light. It would also add a couple mm to the length.

It shows in the video, but nothing like in person. During early communications with Hoop, this was one of my comments as wel… It just sparkles. I was at a large gun show just after getting the light, a bad storm took out their main power. I whipped the little guy out and lit up the bathroom while I finished in there. I bet I could have sold 3 or 4 at that point, had about 6 guys looking it over when I came out.

looking what over? :smiling_imp:

Hoop, an ATTiny85 would be ideal or at least an ATTiny25, it would also help with future programmability.

Crescendo is kind of large to squeeze down to an ATTiny13 without dropping features and losing ramp smoothness.

That would be a great addition to this light! If a lanyard hole would add additional length to this tiny wonder, then forget about it!
