What is this item called (reflects light back)

I have been looking at making a device that I have seen on some flashlights and also these bits are available as aftermarket I believe. But I can't think what the hell they are called. Little shaped cones/reflectors with a hole in them to let the light out, that sit over the top of the LED, right on top of the PCB. The idea being that they bounce stray light back on to the die, I believe to give a cleaner straighter beam. What are they called? Guessing that the internal shape is curved, not straight....was just wondering about designing and 3 d printing initially, coating/painting with silver, then later on turning one down in a lathe in stainless steel. If it over heats the LED, hey ho..no problem, will have been another little project I have had on my mind ticked off the list.

A Reflector.

wavien collar

No, a reflector is the big bit that reflects the light forward, not back wards on the the LED die

Ah yes, that worked… the blue item

!

it’s a wavien collar.

Ah yes, I remember now Thank you Am guessing the internal shape is a complex curve? I was wanting to tinker with / improve a beam on a 72mm UF1508, trash the original ‘glass holder’ and print or machine a totally impractical head to hold the glass. Trouble with the original head is that it has multiple internal flat straight surfaces, that create a horrid beam with lots of rings Wanted to create a new head that held the lens with no internal surfaces reflecting light forward It would be stupidly wide at the head end, totally impractical, but just as an experiment. Something like

But with a wavian collar over the LED to direct more light up to the lens…

Totally stupid idea ?

Current beam pattern is

The internal curve is a sphere.
Any spherical reflector would work as long as opening is OK, but Wavien got a patent on using them with LED lights so they successfully grabbed the name. People were using melon ballers to do the same on a cheap (with results much worse than the top quality collars that Wavien / Marine Beam offer).

OK, a sphere that will be easy to achieve.

This is the current lens holder.

Was thinking to turn or print a huge head, fitted to a flat plate on the torch body, it would end up looking rather like a big camera fisheye lens.

I’ve got three of these lamps, all with the 72mm lens. Some were broken on arrival and they sent me new ones plus spare glass. So I built them up as a single cell, a two cell and a three cell variants.

Can get a good 700-880 meter visible beam hit on a local church spire in the distance as it is. Just wondered about cleaning up the beam pattern. For no more reason really that I broke my leg in motorcycle accident 2 months ago, and I am ‘confined to barracks’ , so looking for projects.

“wavien collar” or “RLT collar”
