DARKSIDE | NYMPH (10440 twisty Fet+1 flashlight w/ 4k 9050 219C)

Welcome to BLF!

We could prolly use some of that around here, TBH.

Hi Venia, nice to meet you. Hope you are able to help Hoop get a RockStar beginning with this venture, his work is beyond outstanding and I for one would love seeing him amply rewarded for it.

Thank you for your generous help, much appreciated.

Even if the campaign doesn’t make the goal, this whole process from concept onward has been a lot of fun for me. Everyone has been very supportive and kind. Thanks for that! :crown: :+1:

I think she was mostly just asking what the “dark patterns” were… But I certainly enjoyed watching the look on her face while she tried to figure out if she just accidentally got volunteered to help.

I would have loved to see her face. :open_mouth: :exclamation:

Hoop is clearly out of his element. We need to get scientists involved.

And it would seem that Venia is queen of the lurkers.

I shall wear my crown in privacy! :crown:

I totally understand being out of your element though.

I’d be up for learning more along with you Hoop, but truth be told, I’m not entirely sure what it would entail.

I would say it is missing something. I wont define it but I will try to describe it as I see it. However, maybe these are related to your other points in some deeper way that requires acronyms before or after your name.

Depending on your audience/content I think it also helps to have one or more of these:

relatable (think younger generation youtube/twitch/streaming)
inspirational (fitness/religion/facebook/political)
attractive (instagram)

Ok guys and gals… I would really like to see this effort go into production. As I stated, I have a beta unit. Hoop asked me to use it and to provide any feedback that I might have. We discussed top and bottom modes, mode counts, ramping, magnets, pocket clips and finish over the duration of use. I have carried this one pretty often to work over the last nearly 2 months. It has been dropped, it has been run hard and is no worse for the wear. I did not even melt it’s face off!

This just gets dropped in my jeans pocket with change, finger nail clippers and pens. It has survived very well. It now lives on my desk at work, gets lots of looks from flashlight newbies… when I turn it on high, the general question is OMG how is it so bright?

Sorry for the crappy phone pics.

Post it on Instagram and hashtag all the flashlight sites. Start a FB group and point the instagram to that group. I sold 200 custom Ti-Lans in a month doing that.

Those would be tasks for me to accomplish. :+1:

Lawd, that’s gorgeous. I want one.

If modes change (my personal moonlight request), please make moonlight 0.5 lumens or less since there are 6 modes. I backed for 1 already. Very nice!

Rather than just saying domestically produced, I would rather say:

Each light is custom made and hand built by me, using domestically produced components where possible, and being built in the USA

And to the title, if you can change it, you should say

DARKSIDRE| NYMPH

A miniature high output flashlight designed for pocket carry, made in the USA!

I know this is your project, but I want to help you out reach your goal

I just posted in Flashlight Fanatics on FB for you. Looks like a few more backers joined in

Hey thanks Robert. :sushi: :sushi: :sushi:

You need to add Australia to “ship to” countries on kickstarter

Just a few questions.

What are thermals like at ~300 lumens and the level one lower?

Why an ATtiny13? Wouldn’t some sort of temp regulation be worthwhile based on the answer above?

Also, I’d be very happy if the light was a few mm longer and had a magnet, but that is by no means a deal breaker.

Ok thanks. Switzerland too and some other non EU countries. Can’t just add them though. Have to make new reward categories.

With a fresh cell mode 5 at ~300 lumens starts to get pretty warm at 2 minutes if you aren’t touching it. If you use your “meatsink” and switch hands often it can be run continuously without getting to hot to hold, but almost does. If your hands are cold it’s no problem. Measured 258 lumens at 4 minutes, 235 at 7 minutes and getting cool. Stopped test. Mode 4 only ever gets warm.

The driver development has been an iterative process. Tiny13a-mmu is 3x3mm 10mlf package. The more capable mcu’s are 20QFN package which is 4x4mm and a tighter squeeze, but doable. I have Tiny25, etc. drivers just about ready for fabrication now and they may end up in the light, in which case it will gain thermal regulation. Tiny13a can do thermal regulation but requires an external thermistor, and the protection would be basic mode reduction rather than something more complex. This was the plan for rev2 of the driver but now I’m probably moving to the more capable mcus which have on chip temperature sensors.

A magnet will most likely end up in the production light.
