ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

I didn’t even realize there were two versions when I first got mine. I have the one without the reverse able clip for $21. After I used mine a bit I was going to order another one for my son as a gift and noticed the only ones I could find had the reversible clip option. I grabbed him a black one at $10 more than I paid from the same seller. Now that seller has the black one for $24 and the green one for $30. Both with the reverse able clip option. There are some other sellers that show the one sided clip knife but they are all over $30.

I haven’t tried Amazon but all of the usual places with free international shipping sell the updated version. Although I prefer the 1st version (being right handed) I had to go for the updated one.

30$ is too much, you can find cheaper, see my link for example. 20,99$ is too cheap for i can see, i think that price is not possible now.

Yes, it is a beautiful knife, one of the best thing of the knife is the kwaiken style (for me) and of course the real D2 steel from Ganzo.

Thanks!.

Yes, it’s the first gen, the second… i must to say i don’t like the part for screws, it’s more beatutiful the gen 1 for me, does not break the aesthetics of the handle. But hey, they are minor things.

I like a lot the blade of the 9002. Coming one…

My Izula knock-off (12€ on Ali) arrived last week. Razor sharp, we’ll see for how long…
I’ve made a paracord wrap on the handle :

Nice thread. I just need a small knife for general use and probably 5-6 years back I got a Sanrenmu 710 as it was the best bang for the buck that time. It served me well and now I am looking for a new one. I am not up to date much these days on budget knifes, but what would be the similar option as of now?

I’m in love

If you are after something similar sized then the Ganzo F753M is a good alternative (at the bottom):

in bigger size the Sanrenmu Land 910 plus, 9103 and 9104 are hard to beat (Sandvik 12C27 blade, ball bearings):

Thanks for your inputs all. I ended up ordering another 710. My earlier one was a plain steel finish, this one is black.

Gearbest has it a great price! $5.99 - https://www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-folding-knives/pp_009475933090.html

My Sanrenmu Izula alternatives the SRM S628 and the 7130. The handle of the S628 is as good as it gets but the 7130 will get a similar paracord wrap sooner or later.

I’ve been eyeing both of them, the S628 in particular because of you, as I don’t have any small fixed blade. I will probably get both of them.

Batch n°2 !

My last review: Sanrenmu 9002

Review: http://chinese-knives.blogspot.com/2018/11/review-sanrenmu-9002.html

CH3504 got confirmed with S35VN blade at HRC 61.6! That’s awesome! :+1:

I like seeing that the steel is real. Now it would just be nice to see some more proper heat treat on the M390. 60-62. That is a big difference from 58 which is pretty soft for that steel.

Yes, and for D2 there must be some difference in edge retention between 58 and 60 HRC… we would need Pete @ Cedric&Ada to do some more rope cutting tests

A higher HRC doesn’t have to mean better edge retention when you get more micro chipping from the higher hardness.

So it’s okey to have a real D2 variant in a cheap blade, but then if performance is only marginally better than regular 8Cr13MoV, that’s a bit disappointing :smiling_imp:

Anyways, too many parameters with these steels… many D2 variants (chinese or not), different blade geometries, etc…

What are some cool budget front flippers?

I like the G10 version of these “Zebra” front-flippers.
For something fancier with titanium handle have a look at this one.
