How much current does this switch draw (BLF A6 tailcap-mod)?

Hey guys,

today I’ve modded the simpliest thing what’s to mod on a BLF A6 or Astrolux S41: I’ve changed the tailcap-switchboard to one of these from banggood:

https://www.banggood.com/Astrolux-SCSS-BLF-X5X6-Flashlight-Lighting-Switch-For-DIY-p-1102279.html

It’d a really slightly nice blue, perfect for spending a night in an hotel. But: What current does it draw? I’m using my lights with 18350 with 1000mAh…

Umm. Definitly wasn’t my best idea, now long click (going back) doesn’t work any more. :person_facepalming: Modded back to normal switch… :frowning:

I don't have one but if the picture on BG is right you have two blue leds, each with a 15k serial resistor (code 18C)

A blue led should be about 2.7V at low current, say you have 3.7V (batt) - 2.7V (led) = 1V remaining for the resistor so that is 1/15000= 67uA for each led

The overall current for the two leds is about (depends a lot on the battery voltage and real led voltage) 130uA = 0.13mA

1000mAh/0.13mA = 7700h = 320 days for draining the battery (rough approximation)

I see your last comment only now ... well at least now you know ;-)

i think you need to reduce the bleeder res at driver side, maybe 470 will work

So this would work if I desolder driver, modify it and solder it back? Too much work for just a little fun…

The switch I bought from the Convoy store draws 8 mA. Yeah it messes up your modes, that’s why I couldn’t get biscotti.

Thx all of you!
