Fireflies E07 preview

You’re correct. Forget about extremely affordable and easily machinable aluminum for a light as affordable as this. We need to get serious and start looking into flashlights made from diamond, cubic boron arsenide, or graphene.

Has there been any word on when they expect the e07 will be made available? Seems like alot of competing lites in the 21700 format all of a sudden. None seem as interesting as the e07. But my new samsungs are getting anxious.

Silver and gold have good properties too (bonus: bling added). Or else tungsten (why are you limping? I’m just trying to EDC my Fireflies E07)

Photon Fanatic took a square bar of Tungsten, cut it to round, then made a very unique flashlight from it. The weight was obviously more than other lights but not prohibitive. Remember, even with the weight of Tungsten or Gold the flashlight is a hollow tube, not a lot of solid area to make the weight add up. (in other words, even with a much larger light it would take quite the weakling to develop a limp from carrying a light!)

Isn’t tungsten brittle? How would it perform in the thickness we see in common battery tubes? Just curious.

Tungsten can be too hard, making it susceptible to breaking on impact. Brittle? Matter of perception I guess, I’ve been using the same tungsten carbide cutting dies on the lathe for 2 years… Dropping a flashlight made from tungsten most likely wouldn’t break it or show any visible result, slamming it down on concrete might would fracture it.

Been wearing a gold titanium nitride coated W wedding band for several years, wear it working on the lathe, wear it all the time, no scratches and it’s as shiny as new. Anything else get’s beat up pretty quick.

Tisk tisk Dale, wearing jewelry while working with tools? Calling OSHA, please stand by

I suppose you of all people probably have enough tools to cut it off should you have to, lol

The amount of mass that little bit would contribute would be inconsequential to the heat management and/or run-time.

I got married in 1983 originally, was divorced by the end of the year and remarried in 84. Divorced again in 2000 and remarried in 02. I’ve worn a wedding band what seems like forever… regardless what work I was doing. Cognizant of the facts, pay attention. (well, except for the woman thing, seem to have slipped a few cogs where they’re concerned)

@fireflies

Please build this light with Clear anodize. Pleeeeease!!!

It looks sooo coool!!!

+1 for clear without sandblasting. Just right off the machine look.

I truly would still be in if they made it in Titanium with a copper finned head. Just sayin… I know it would double the price, maybe then some, but still, I’m a Titanium/Copper freak.

Titanium with copper would be amazing. Still want the purple aux leds in to match the side-switch.

I’m okay with the cut portion for the side-switch. It will probably make it easier to find the switch by touch, while the majority of the heat-sinking is handled by that big shelf behind the leds.

1 for Ti Cu, it would be a very functional light and a gem to look at

Silver and Gold!

Can we see a photo inside the head please?

Yes, it does. That one jumped right out when I was looking at these pictures. It’s calling my name :money_mouth_face:

I thought I read somewhere that this light would have auxiliary LEDs? I don’t see any place for them. And what is the red arrow highlighting?

They’re on a separate board which goes on above the MCPCB.

Hot damn! I’m really excited about this one.

It’s always hard to tell the true color on a computer screen, but I like the dark grey (black?) too. Gonna be hard to decide.

Thanks for the pics.
