I am soooooo IN!!
Interested in ONE lantern. Two, depending on the final price.
Thank you to everyone involved for all the hard work and dedication (and for feeding my light addiction)
And DBSAR: Get better soon…and thank you for all you’ve done for this project.

I thought about this and the USB port problem
It may sound strange but why not simply produce v1 lantern body
with USB micro and C port on the same aux board just wired in parallel below one silicone cover
And then in V2 this aux usb board gets replaced with new driver
So the upgrade would only need 3 LED wires soldered and likely a Thermal resistor with 2 wires for precise thermal regulation

So… Are you talking about a possible manufacturing design change or a possible after-market mod for those who could accomplish it?

It would be at least great if its possible to upgrade v1 lantern later to v2 with a kit

That would be a fun little mod for those interested.
This seems interesting. Count me in.
It would, but it’d be even nicer to get the lantern out before CNY shuts down China for a month.
Making the hardware theoretically forward-upgradeable might be nice for the handful of people who would bother, but shipping before CNY is something which would benefit everyone. So I would only attempt it if it won’t cause delays.

That does make a lot of sense, what is even more important it would make the V2, esentially the groundwork would be laid already.
I just don’t understand having both micro and C ports on the board. Wouldn’t one C port be enough to serve as a charging port and powerbank out?
