I’m not particularly knowledgeable but do we know the exact tint and colour temps for the various led’s that will be offered?
Is there two xpl-hi options and two Samsung options? Some of the comments seem to suggest there is 4K and 5k xpl’s and the same for the Samsung’s? Excuse my ignorance if i’m miss understanding the comments.
Thanks
People are just saying what they would like. I don’t think there have been any official tints confirmed. If I had to guess, it would be 4000K LH351D and 5000K xpl-hi.
We are still waiting for ToyKeeper to confirm what the choices are.

Is the XP-L HI going to be ‘at least 5000K’ (or a bit more??)
See first page, poll’s results = XP-L HI 3D means between 4750-5000K if i’m not wrong, LH351D 4000K.
Maybe this will change if a better tint is found that doesn’t match the poll’s end results.
I dont want to wait , I dont want coold low cri led too , on the other hand I doubt that Samsung will make good tint. current T7 shuld be below BBL but it 4step above. I actualy dont care about tint, I just want neutral Hicri. )
The sooner I get host, the sooner I could change LEDs) So variant #3.

I think TK is just adept at throwing decoys to keep the peace while we are all waiting. She’s ahead of the game. Thanks for keeping us entertained TK
The plan for the surface finish is a dark grey anodized aluminum. After three tries to do a clear-anodized finish, it still didn’t work out, so the plan is to do a classy dark grey which is both easier and more durable.

Thanks for the info TK…..

Thanks for the update. Im gravitating more towards warmer emitters, but both of those options sound perfect. Unfortunate that clear ano didnt work out, but grey will be good too.
I think if LH351D is causing delays then they should release XPL-HI SKU now (or whenever practical). LH351D SKU can be released later when tint issues are resolved.
I’m defo decided for LH351D then, not interested in 3D tint
So I egotistically should vote for option 2 as releasing XP-L version will most likely delay one with Samsung emiter but I’m not that egoist
So you keep repeating over and over and over.
It’s tiresome and I’m pretty sure the volunteers who stepped in to take over this project don’t appreciate the little jabs and constant reminders.

Better forget mate, it’s just another one to the list…
Fortunately other people come here to say positive stuff and to keep us breathing while waiting! :ARROW-RIGHT:

Aww… That’s a shame.
“Didn’t work”?
That’s strange.
I don’t mind either Option 2 or 3 but definitely not Option 1.
Please do not use any of the LH351D currently available in the FW3A. They are all too green. The groupbuys were T6 and T7 bins that were supposed to be at or below the BBL but in reality, they are all much above the BBL resulting in the yellow or green tint as shown in the Bob McBob’s comparison TK posted earlier. Please note that the few E21A 4000k flashlights I have don’t look anywhere that rosy and the LH351D is even more green than in the pics. Really hope Neal can source T1, T2, T3, T4 bin. I don’t mind waiting. I rather have perfect emitters to begin with so no need to mod.
Another option besides the Samsungs are the Luminus SST-20-W 95CRI. The 4000k sold on Kaidomain is the FB4 bin, which is far above the BBL. Fireflies is using the FA3 bin in the ROT66 and that was reported to have some slight green and requires minus green filter to perfect. If Neal can source the FA1, FA4, FD1, FD4, it should give the Nichia 9080 appearance but with better performance vs 219B.

I like the above, but from the 3 choices, mine is – Make the XP-L HI model now, and do the LH351D lights later.

To clarify, the plan for emitters is two choices:
The plan for the surface finish is a dark grey anodized aluminum. After three tries to do a clear-anodized finish, it still didn’t work out, so the plan is to do a classy dark grey which is both easier and more durable.
Nice!

Purrrrrrrfect!
You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.
Based on TK’s confirmation it’s XP-L for me and make them ASAP

I’m in no hurry, so options 2 and 3 are both fine to me. However, does the wait even guarantee availability of the more appealing bins?

I think the lead time to get the LH351D in a rosy bin from a supplier is what requires a delay.

Please go for the XP-L HI lights now. It's what I am interested in anyway. Thanks.
Please add me to the list for one of these. Thnx.
This is what I am in for, take your time for the best tint. I have one or two other lights to tide me over until then.
I agree. I doubt any of us are stuck in the dark. Be patient and get it right the first time.
The higher the quality, the more it’s worth waiting for and the more pleasing it will be when it arrives. Besides, the anticipation is half the fun.
I am interested in 1, please.
Thanks for all the work on the light and GB to all involved
Please add me for 1x of option 2 ‘LH351D 4000K 90CRI (ideally T1/T2/T3/T4 bin)’. Let’s wait for the real deal.
I vote option 2. We’ve already waited this long. Let’s get it right source some confirmed good, below black body line, hi cri Rosy goodness.
Hasn’t been THAT long, only a year and a half

I asked Digikey.
They said stocking a favorable tint bin will take quite a long lead time, as always.
