I would rather see 2S 21700 because there are already a ton of similar 2S 26650 lights already including the new Jaxman X6 Hunter, Convoy L2 & L6, Thorfire S70, Sofirn SP70, etc.
Thing is that for me a general light appeals in any output, both low output and high output lights have their use and I accept and appreciate less output when the light runs on a safe NiMh battery.
But throwers is different, they must throw really well to be attractive, regardless the battery chemistry. A micro-GT modded with the best current throw led, the Osram KW CSLNM1-TG, on a NiMh and the best boost driver available, will still make under 50 kcd. My sk68 mod with dedomed XP-E2 from 4 years back does that too. While that same micro-GT with a 14500 does 130 kcd, which is impressive for such a small light and immediately attractive for me.
(admitted, I have no grandsons yet and my 8yr-old thinks me and my hobby is a bit silly)
Lol. It seems like you’d get a bit more than 50kcd out of a good cell, but you da boss. Still, that’s firmly into ‘decent’ imo, when you’re talking a tiny cell with like 3 watt hours of energy. Plus, it’d be great for them to have a small boost driver in their repertoire. Shame, that.
I have to second robo819’s motion, some of the GT Mini’s came with a quite warm XP-L HI… if they’re going to glue the bezels then there needs to be a few choices in tint.
What they called a “neutral white” in the GT Mini was more like a 4000K maybe 5A’ish? It was more on the warmer side than a true neutral should be for sure. I have always thought that Neutral was around 5000K 3D’ish. Neutral should be just that , no warmer color to it , no cooler color to it , but more of a pure white light.
Maybe a 1A , 3D and 5A or 5B , so it would cover most areas of preference , would be nice.
