I actually really like the grey. I thought that the pictures in the main post were just weird lighting. The one thing I will say is that I think you guys could have done a much better job of sharing that change sooner as it seems like this is catching a lot of people by surprise but the decision was apparently made months ago. I’m really hoping that the good LH351Ds can be found quickly as I’m still pretty excited about this light.
This was talked about a lot roughly 5 months ago. I’m guessing some people don’t really follow the thread and those that do might have forgotten about it. At least no one has seemed surprised about the sloping angle on the battery tube.
I did forget why they are bead blasting it. Did the finish not look nice when anodized without bead blasting? The combo of dark grey and no bead blasting might look sweet.
Agreed, and being completely honest, while the shiny bare aluminum does look nice, the color/ano is not a big deal to me whatsoever. I’m excited about the firmware and size.
You didn’t forget. It’s just that nobody here knows. For a lot of things, like the bead-blasting, I don’t have any more information than anyone else here. There has been a distinct lack of communication for quite a while. I try not to complain about it in public, but it’s pretty frustrating.
Most of the questions I haven’t answered are because I don’t have the answers.
@ JasonWW: Nice! After going into momentary on mode, will the switch have some more functions, like, a full click, etc. while in that momentary ON mode, or will that be its only function/mode?
Are you thinking this has a mechanical clicky switch where you can do half presses and full presses?
No, this is an e-switch. So when in momentary mode it’s hold button - On. Release button - Off. Just like a NarsilM light from version 1.2 and up. So no other functions.
I’m not sure if the momentary mode in Anduril is Turbo only or a setable level. I’m also not sure how to get out of that mode. It’s a good question for ToyKeeper or someone with a ROT66 running Anduril. I don’t have an Anduril light yet.
I guess we all thank you for those answers!! And we also hope that in this “final phase” there will be more communication at least for the team, and then to the interested people here on the thread!
If I may ask this, I would like to know if it is possible for the Team to inform us when the final decision about when the production will start and with which LEDs (XPL-HI first, and Samsung later; or all at the same time).
I have my FW3A Giveaway still active but I will need to sort the winner, and the information about date and LEDs will be important for me, due to the payments and also ’cause I gave the possibility to chose the emitters, in case of more than 1 type was going to be used.
joechina, that isn’t a rendering… it’s Fritz’s light he made as the original prototype. Raw knurling straight off the lathe does indeed look just exactly like that. This is the kind of thing you know when you have done it yourself. I just haven’t had a lot of luck making it look that good…
The brightness in momentary mode is whatever the user used last in the ramping modes.
It’s intended to be able to do Morse code and such, so there is no sequence of button presses which will exit momentary mode. To exit, disconnect power.
