[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

I noticed this line has been on the listing page for a few days at least:

Obviously they have been getting more in stock, as there are 91 currently stated as available.

I was hoping the above meant the color versions would available today, but nothing so far. Hopefully they show up soon.

Well if we’re getting our Dr. Suess on, I’ll crack open a beer and pray it comes this year.

Ive had that happened a few times and it is the carrier’s fault. USPS here have some really irresponsible delivery guys that dont give a sh*t. Sofirn have no control over the carrier’s incompetence. You need to file a complaint to the delivery company otherwise the delivery guy will not get disciplined

I’ll check with the post office on Monday.I,m more inclined to blame Aliexpress. Nobody in the U.S. has received their flashlight to the best of my knowledge but it wouldn’t surprise me if USPS screwed up.

My last update was Nov. 26, Leaving parcel center Guangzhou (China).

What site is everyone using to track?

When did you place the order? Is there a tracking number? If so, it should tell you which carrier it uses for shipping in the US. I’ve bought many thousands of dollars of purchases from Aliexpress in the last four years and never had anything not come, although I’ve received cracked glass and a DOA once but was refunded the money by contacting the seller. Usually shipping takes 1 to 2 months. However, Sofirn is faster and I usually receive their products between 3-4 weeks. If it’s been more than 4 weeks, you should contact Sofirn directly on Aliexpress or PM them here. Their customer service is top notch. I actually received free lights from them sent from their Amazon store because I thought the light was not working although I later realize it was my own mistake.

> what site …?

I’m just clicking the “track” buttons on the Ali Orders page while I’m logged in to Ali and looking at my orders of Nov. 10 and 11th.
… click, click, click ….

My last tracking update was the same status on Nov 23rd. Nothing since. I use 17track.

I use Package Radar, 17Track, & USPS.

My site of choice is 17Track. But if I want to track Ali parcels, I usually get my track info from Ali itself.
As said before, different tracking-sites use different names for the same thing, and vice versa. Be aware.

I also use 17track. But often http://track.4px.com gives results when others don’t.

About tracking systems. The funniest thing just happened to me.
I am on and off monitoring the movements of the copper AAA Olight that Neal send me.

17Trac has not changed its status in over 4 days. So I tried 4PX. Did not recognise the tracking number.
Then I thought: let’s go out of the box. See what results you get from the tracking system of PostNL.

I was very surprised to get a verbatim copy of the results of 17Track!

I solved the mystery.A couple of days before I received the email about the C01 being delivered I received a Sofirn sc31.I thought I must have ordered it and forgot about it.After tracking my order on 17track I went rooting in the trash for the envelope that the sc31 came in.Sure enough the tracing numbers matched, they sent me a sc31 instead of my c01.Since it cost twice what I paid for a C01 I can’t complain.I’ll just gift the sc31 and order the c01 again. That was the fastest shipping I ever got from china and they sent the wrong light!
Thanks for the help,I added 17track to my browser tool bar.

I used the light for a couple of days now. Here is my opinion.

The light feels sturdy with nice anodising that seems to hold up well.

Gave it to the kids a few times and its nice to know that it is completely safe. They even took it to bath so water resistance is also ok.

The tint (3200k) is very nice (if you like it also, you should really try the 3000k sst-20 for even nicer tint).

The lumen level is a perfect mix between a moonlight mode and a lowlow, if this makes sense. It can be used well as a bedside light.

What I don’t like is that the twisting action on mine is a little stiff. It takes quite some effort to rotate.

I don’t know if I am going to use it a lot, because I have other lights with equally good tint and color temperature and they have more modes for a lower moonlight mode and a higher mode if needed.

All in all I am very happy with the purchase. Thank all involved for making this possible.

Have you cleaned and lubricated the threads? That often helps, because some little powdery grit can be left in the threads from manufacturing.

Might I ask when you ordered the light?

I placed my order on November 10th
The package with the wrong light arrived on November 28

Yes I cleaned and relubed twice. Threads were dry when the light arrived btw.

I appreciate the threads being a bit stiff in a twisty, makes it less likely for the head to fall out at some point. But too stiff is not nice of course.

Geuzz: thanks for sharing your experience and opinion with us :+1:

Concerning the twisting action: we got what we asked for, as the threads are an exact copy of the Fenix E01 (C01 and E01 can ‘lego’), the twist resistance of the C01 is a deliberate design decision and carry-over from the Fenix E01.

After reading your post I just tested the twisting resistance of my golden and purple Fenix E01. The golden one E01 is even more stiff than all my four Sofirn C01s, while my purple Fenix E01 is slightly less stiff. Strangely enough, the golden E01 is was one of my most used lights (I carried it for over a year on my keychain, untill I received my Sofirn C01s). I can still operate all of them single-handedly, so I do not perceive any stiffness as a problem. Like djozz said, if the twisting action is too smooth, chances are higher to loose the head during everydaycarry. Perhaps also the length of the battery might be a factor in “stiffness” of the twist action.

Funny to read your kids took it to bath; my kids did as well, and they really enjoyed its waterproofness.
I have other lights where my kids did the same, which lead them to observe: “Look dad, there are coming bubbles out this flashlight.” :person_facepalming:

Edit: logical mistake, forgot NOT
