[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

What kind of monster did they create in that PDF file?!

That face is some nightmare fuel for some people.

Ew. I intentionally didn’t link to that uglyface.

So it seems to be compatible with everything EXCEPT silicone rubber. Isn’t that exactly what the o-rings are made out of?

Sho’ nuff, a lot of O-rings are made from that.

I should’ve said almost everything: "O-ring" silicone rubber - Google Search

Wow: Silicone rubber (FMQ, PMQ, MQ, VMFQ, V - Google Search

but O-rings can be made of lots of other stuff: O-Ring Material Chart Rubber Selection Guide Quick Reference

Here’s a caution and recommendation:

Pardon the digression.

:open_mouth: Dang, I missed that when looking at the chart. :person_facepalming:

Silicone rubber (FMQ, PMQ, MQ, VMFQ, VMQ) / NC

But…… Seeing SuperLube is all I ever use, I cannot imagine not having used this on Silicon O-rings at some point. So I will not be changing anything. SuperLube has worked flawlessly for me since my first AA Maglite till now. That is a lot of years & a lot of lights.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…… that is my theory. :+1:

BUT, I also am gonna get some O-rings I know for certain are made of ’Silicon’ and see what happen when I use SuperLube on them.

I’ll report back…….

………….
Sorry, I couldn’t figure out how to post the chart so I had to improvise by ’copy & paste’. :person_facepalming: … Oh well….

I use Super Lube 51010 in a precision oiler, no problems with any of my flashlights.

Does anyone else remove their o-rings and lube under them?

Hmmmm, I don’t…. but I actually never thought about it either. :+1: It sure couldn’t hurt, I think I’ll give it a try & start lubing those O-ring grooves.

I do, maybe every other time, thinking it might help seal out moisture and water.

OK, here is the deal on the SuperLube confusion……

THIS is the SuperLube I use on my lights for threads & O-rings. It will not harm Silicone O-rings, it is a Synthetic based grease. (see below \ )

.
THIS is not the SuperLube I use. It is a Silicone base O-ring lubricant. It is not suitable for Silicone O-rings. ( see below \ )

Regarding stuff to grease threads and O-rings I use Nyogel 760G, I bought a small tube at NKON.nl: https://www.nkon.nl/flashlights/armytek-flashlights/armytek-nyogel-760g.html

Edit: More info on flashlight lube and grease at CPF: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?126645-Comprehensive-Grease-and-Lube-Thread

However lubing the threads and O-rings of both my Fenix E01 and Sofirn C01 does not dramatically decrease stiffness… It does make the twisting slightly smoother though.

From defloyd77:
Which shipping method did you choose? It’s kind of odd that nobody in the States has seemed to get their C01 yet, but somehow you got a light, albeit the wrong light, in 18 days. Mine’s still in China!

Here is the tracking from Aliexpress,it surprised me more than it did you. That is one reason I didn’t think the sc31 had anything to do with my sc01 order.I thought that I bought the sc31 during a flash sale then forgot about it!
I ordered 2 5600k sc01’s Sunday.As for shipping,I’m getting whatever the free shipping is.

Haven’t had any updates since 23rd.

Ordered mine Nov. 10th. Still in the “Origin Post is Preparing Shipment” stage.

Oops… :person_facepalming: . Fixed it. :+1:

^ That photo really makes it look like there’s a lot of tint difference. I can’t imagine it’s that significant to the naked eye.

That C01 on the right is definitely rosier than the C01 on the left, though.

I do not trust any photograph to show true distinctions of color between lights. Given all the compromises taken between taking the photo itself, and then transferring it to another very limited range medium, even a very slight difference can be compounded greatly.
I would find it much more trustworthy if both of the C01s had been side by side, so that the distortion caused by the much brighter other lights would have been evenly distributed. There is a reason why most photos like this one carry the disclaimer that the only valid comparison that can be made is one of intensity.
