Speaking of ToyKeeper, I have total respect for her. She is one smart human being.

I aslo want to thank Toykeeper for the well thought expressions. I am an infrequent poster but have been around for a while. The bash the newbie because they don’t act the way they are expected by some attitude is invariably damaging. This is exactly why CPF is so widely “not enjoyed”.It is also counterproductive and does not lead to growth. I “enjoyed and endured” that attiitude for a 2 year apprenticeship for Goodyear. 25 years later as a journeyman I made sure not to display that attitude toward any new guys and lo and behold I was respected by the oldtimers and the new folks AND,continued to get payed each week. This is a social media site where we enjoy certain people like Mr. Atbglenn Lightbringer, Toykeeper Mr Admin and so many others. Some I just move on, because even though they can contribute so much more than I, their attitude is not the sort I want to socialize with. By this monitor I invite these folks into my home head and thoughts. Some of the really self important folks need a cranial laxative but that will never happen. Report away as you will. Just my thoughts for what they are worth. Man’s forum? Asinine at best as well as revealing.

Obviously does not mean women are not welcome.
On the contrary, probably.
It’s just that technical hobbies are the habit of mainly men, so you’ll find mainly men on such forums.
And that’s why it can be called a “man’s forum”.

But you know this too, so maybe you’re kind of joking.
(probably women’s humour then    )

I highly doubt that’s true, or at least, that this is always true.
I think it’s often best to give someone the choice between pursuing either the stick or the carrot.
Matter of pointing out the red line AND the way ahead.
Of course this depends on the situation too.

Well, no.
PC policing is rampant and truth is offensive nowadays.

Unfortunately it often IS.

Well, that’s true.
But, this depends on the forum / site / platform too.
Have you ever visited the chans? :person_facepalming:

Is it political to want to make something great (again)?
Is it counterproductive to want to make something great (again)?
Is your objection perhaps an example of the pointless PC policing trend?

I agree there.
It can cause problems.
It depends though.
VoB’s reference to Jesus Christ in his signature, for example, is just that: a reference, still with a message, but a positive message. Yes, it is ‘religious’.
I do have a problem with signatures such as the one Djozz has.
It’s political, it’s condescending and condemning.
It’s also based on ambiguous premises and a skew view on reality.
(I could elaborate, but i won’t.)
Ironically Djozz is often very vocal about being against discussing politics…

But should such signatures be forbidden?
Or should we ‘man up’ about it and let it be?

I think it’s called ‘ranting’.

I don’t think that’s true.
You can be yourself here.
Yes, even if you don’t have a Y chromosome.

I think only you can change your attitude / perception regarding your position here as a woman.
I’ve told you before, you’re a highly valued and appreciated BLF member.
The guys here cut you more slack than they would the average guy.
So i don’t understand your complaint, to be honest.
I hope it’s not you who thinks of us guys as being uncivilized.
So let’s look at it without the gender stamp on people.
Some people are civilized and behave civilized, others are not.
Some aren’t but behave well, some are but don’t behave well.
On line, that is.
In real life it’s often quite different.

And then there’s being civilized while being arrogant too.
Or being uncivilized while being humble.

Well, etcetera…
Peole are people and they’re all different, but some are a bit less different than others.

You forget that some noobs are rude and arrogant or otherwise annoying. This will be ‘corrected’ with obvious reactions, naturally.

That’s arrogance and snobbism rather than correcting obnoxious noobs.
Thankfully most noobies are well behaved, and then there’s no problem.

Maybe you should just ‘man up’ a bit in stead of being a ‘victimized SJW’.
Some people are jerks, especially on line. Or maybe only on line, but not in real life.
Yes, it comes at you right in your home.
Weird times in that respect…
So i can relate, and i’ve been / felt ‘hurt’ too via the internet.
And i can be a jerk too…
But it is what it is.
And frankly, this forum is one of the best places to be, in my experience.

I'm very glad ToyKeeper is a member here.

And, in general, I think women are better than men.

I'm sure there are a good number of the fairer sex here that don't want to say that they're female because women are many times not treated with respect, especially online.

I don't think Boaz was hating on women, however, despite his non-politically-correct mini-rant.

Hey I represent that remark!

One of the things that makes BLF special is the relatively unique relationship with commercial and semi-commercial entities. (I hesitate to use the word “people” even if I am a member of that group.) Many small solo operations and custom makers were started by normal enthusiasts with mere sig lines.

I think people in general suck (edit: nah, that’s too harsh, sorry), but i still love them and i can’t live without them.

Not in my experience.
Certainly not on BLF.

He’s just tired of the PC culture and the divisions it has brought, i.m.o.

Stumbled on this

Jerromel Social Justice Warrior. Not Me Sir. I simply enjoy civility rather than ranting idiocy. An a-hole is a part of the body but not everyones most enjoyed. Most men I have associated did not need to chest thump and blather to seek someone to respect their opinion. Lots of the rip the newbies cannot remember being newbies. Or perhaps they have always been as good as they are now. That is a very real possibility. Anyway ths can be argued ad nauseum because every one has an opinion and an a-hole and just like mine most of them stink. Forgive any misspelling. English is my native language but I have only been blowing my mouth off for 56 years. Some have far more experience.

As a thought I also would like to say this forum lets me enjoy humans of all sorts from lands and experiences I will never see in my lifetime.

Some non-humans too

Wait I resemble that comment.

Sorry if you thought i implied it.
It was just a ‘maybe’ suggestion to look at it from another angle.

Yeah, but some people just rant idiocy sometimes, or make it sound idiotic or over the top.
Point is, offence can be given, but it can also be taken.
Some people may offend, but some people are easily offended.

Can’t live without it though.

Or maybe they have learned to behave by being ripped a few times.
Ripping obnoxious noobs (again, there are only a few of them, 90% or more are cool) has a purpose, when they “have it coming”.

Well, i think it’s good to discuss these things every now and then.
Boaz has some points i can relate to, and so do you and others.

Yeah roger that. Stick and carrot possibilities should be used. At Goodyear we sometimes had to settle things that way. Some got it through words and some had to go to the basement. Mighty dark down there. Noisy too! You are absolutely correct about discussion. My way of expressing my thoughts can be quite direct and may seem offensive. Hope not! This is really one of the best discussion forums around. So much knowledge so freely shared. Out of line folks should be corralled often for their own good. If they won’t take instruction then they won’t stay around.

(Boʹaz) [possibly, In Strength].
A landowner of Bethlehem in Judah, “a man mighty in wealth” of about the 14th century B.C.E. (Ru 2:1) Boaz was the son of Salma (Salmon) and Rahab, and he was the father of Obed. (Mt 1:5) He was a link in the family line of the Messiah, the seventh in line of descent from Judah. (1Ch 2:3-11; Lu 3:32, 33) How this very unusual turn of events came about, allowing Boaz to be included in the genealogy of Jesus, is preserved for us in the book of Ruth.
Boaz had a close relative named Elimelech, who, along with his two sons, died leaving no male heirs. Of the widows of the two sons, one, Ruth, stuck by Elimelech’s widow Naomi. It was harvesttime, and Ruth was gleaning “by chance” in the field belonging to Boaz. (Ru 2:3) Now Boaz was a true Judean, a devout worshiper of Jehovah. Not only did he greet his harvesters with “Jehovah be with you,” but, after observing Ruth’s loyalty toward Naomi, he also said to her, “May Jehovah reward the way you act, and may there come to be a perfect wage for you from Jehovah.” (Ru 2:4, 12) When Ruth reported these things to her mother-in-law, Naomi exclaimed: “Blessed be he of Jehovah . . . He is one of our repurchasers.” (Ru 2:20) Furthermore, when the harvest ended, Naomi explained to Ruth the customary way of bringing this matter to Boaz’ attention. As Boaz was sleeping at his threshing floor, he awakened to find Ruth lying down at his uncovered feet, asking that he repurchase Elimelech’s estate by levirate marriage. (See BROTHER-IN-LAW MARRIAGE.) Ruth was to be the substitute for Naomi, who was beyond the age of childbearing. Wasting no time, Boaz the next morning summoned another kinsman more closely related, but this person, referred to in the Bible only as So-and-so, refused to comply with the divine arrangement. Boaz, however, was quick to do so and took Ruth as his wife, with the blessing of the townspeople. She bore him a son named Obed, the grandfather of King David.—Ru 3:1–4:17.
Throughout the account, from his first kind greeting to the workers to his acceptance of the responsibility for preserving the family name of Elimelech, Boaz is observed to be an outstanding man—*a man of action and authority yet having good self-control, faith, and integrity, being generous and kind, morally chaste,* and fully obedient to Jehovah’s commandments in all respects.

I am glad this Boaz didn’t rip Ruth a new one!! Not written in Greek I barely do English!

Dam…………and here I am thinking all this time that Boaz was Bo from Arizona. ’Course I never bothered to ponder that Birthplace of Aviation part in his avatar. I just figured it was about Davis-Monthan AFB.

Will wonders EVER cease?

PS. This revelation doesn’t surprise me that he has a deevine origin. Honestly way back when, I first thought he was from Moscow, Russia cuz of the red Sputnik looking thing.

:person_facepalming:

Sorry about the aftermath. :frowning:

And if you doubleclick, it strobes you.

Well, you can count on it, maybe helpful with the math. :stuck_out_tongue:
