Learning about modding - driver for Keygos M10

I am dipping my toes in the water here. I have a Keygos M10 that I want to keep ready as part of my home defense kit. The UI or modes (trying to learn the lingo) aren't the best for this since it goes to the next mode from where it was turned off. I would rather have it come on in low mode every time with high and strobe modes available. It appears that a could replace the driver in the light. Soldering is not a problem. I pulled the light apart last evening and got it back together, so that felt like progress. :)

Where I am lost is how to choose a driver. This seems like it might be a good choice? I would appreciate your comments or suggestions to further my learning. "AMC7135 (Nanjg 105c) ":https://www.fasttech.com/products/1612/10001683/1122302

I am not sure what size the driver is in that light? Can you measure it? If the current one is 17 mm then that is a good choice . Very reliable and simple UI.

If you don’t know about mtnelectronics I would recommend them. It might be a bit more expensive than the Chinese stores but it’s fast shipping from the US and good quality components and service.

There are several different UIs available, depending on the driver, that are described on mtnelectronics site.

Acto this, Review: Keygos M10 , it isn’t clear (to me) whether this be a 17mm or 20mm driver. Acto a different post, someone swapped in a 105C, so that’d be a 17mm driver.

So… the 105C can select different modes depending which “star” you solder-bridge to ground. Think the 3rd one is 10%/100, another is 5%/30%/100. Either one would be fine.

Dang all this talk about Keygos makes me want to go and find my two lights and mod then with new emitters! They used to be some of my favorites. I put them away when internal charging came out. Maybe I can get new batteries with the internal charging……

Bikenber73, I realized that the Keygos glory days were a few years back. It was a light used as a bike light once in a great while, but evaluating some things and want to re-purpose it to sit next to the handgun safe. I believe the driver is 17mm, but I’ll see if I can measure it for sure very soon.

EasyB, it looks like mtn electronics has a QLite driver that would do what I’d like. Thanks for that tip.

One thing I like about the 105Cs is that you can always change the modes in hw with the solder bridges, no need to reflash anything, and while more complex UIs are kewl to play with, for a hi-rel light I like simple. My most reliable ones are simple stoopit 1-mode drivers, no µC on-board at all, just a few 7135s and a diode. One pops, you just get a little less current (and more runtime, ha!), but it keeps right on lighting.

You can even lobotomise a 105C by hardwiring the 7135s’ enable pins high, for 100%-only operation.

I believe the driver is 20mm, so I took a chance and ordered a 105E 20mm 7135*8 3.04A LED DRIVER. We’ll see what happens, I guess.
