Great Looking Light: Ultrafire UF-Y1 with a Xhp50.2 in it = Great POCKET ROCKET

Not sure what your referring to. But I believe a Xhp50 or Xhp70 in single High mode in this light should fit the definition of pocket rocket. (Or do you mean, the flashlights actual size?)

You must be kidding about a S2+ would be brighter, rocket wise than a Xhp50.2 in this light.

I have a S2+ in XP-L Hi and its meh, not impressive, it okay for a newbe starter light.

Funner,
I interpreted the title roughly as “UF-Y1 is a pocket rocket”. I suppose mcfarlie6996 as well.

BTW, personally I find Convoys much better looking than this light.

As is it’s not a pocket rocket.

If you can get an XHP50 in it, not sure if it would still match up to the Emisar D4 though.

isnt this garbage? i mean anything with fire name cant be good?

I’d agree that years ago, maybe, but nowadays… 800 cold white lumens out of 18650… nothing to impress me.

BLF A6 1600 lm, Zanflare F1,….

Some of you didn’t read past the title, that’s funny. I added the a summary in the title for those of you that also drive a vehicle and don’t look past the steering wheel.

I may be to blame. I should have posted this in the “Modding” forum. You fellas in this other forum can enjoy your “bright” stock lights.

Who the heck would keep a light like this stock.

Isn’t it cheating now that you’ve changed the title? Also, you haven’t even put an XHP50.2 in it so how can you call it a great pocket rocket?

Like I said: I may be to blame. I should have posted this in the “Modding” forum. You fellas in this other forum can enjoy your “bright” stock lights.

To turn this into a “pocket” rocket, I guess it will imply some changes, namely to get a good brass pill, eventually!!
The flashlight has the looks, but I don’t know if it has the “inners” to turn into a rocket!
The Convoy S8 has similar look, but seems to be more reliable than this (not related to being Ultrafire or not)!

Hovers when pointed lens down while turned on, accelerates continuously when dropped off in orbit.

Wellp, some UF lights make fine hosts (eg, C8, ’502, etc.), but only if “real” UF (used to be, the Great Copier UF became the most copied, too).

Doesn’t matter if you have a DD light that can belch out 2000lm ’til the LED turns blue, it’ll heat up like the business end of a curling iron in no time, and be rather uncomfortable to hold without oven-mitts.

So, you can make virtually anything a “pocket rocket”, but it doesn’t mean it’s a Good Idea.

That said, if the light has a good thermal path, sure, you can fit it with an XHPwhatever and DD/FET driver and let it cook… for a short time. Hence the oft-lamented characteristics of stock lights with timed turn-down, to keep the light from self-immolating.

Still, if you want a wow-factor, to be able to light up an entire valley for a short time, there’s no reason not to. Intense pain and the smell of frying bacon will let you know when it’s time to flick it off turbo.

The S2 with deeper reflector will probably throw even farther than the S2+.

I tend to not use “S2+” and “throw” in the same sentence. Makes an incredibly nice flooder, though.

Real UFs can be pretty good… as hosts. Yeah, they tend to CW and blinky drivers and the like, but you can replace the goodies with better ones and have a quite-nice light.

Oh, a ’502 was my EDC for æons, with a 1-mode (think it was) 1.4A driver, and was/is in perfect condition. Not even a hint of “scratchiness” or flicker from the stock switch, no chips/nicks/wearing in the ano, nothing like that.

The DV-S2 is a really nice magswitch diving light that’s been dive-tested by some folks here, and holds up nicely.

I wouldn’t knee-jerk any poo-poo reaction to the UF name, not for legit UF lights.

Even better when a triple emitter and optic is installed.

I do not like those protruding Sipik-style clip screws at all.

Those screw qualify it as a “Budget Light”.

Haven’t done that yet (probably would end up like a TO46R), but swapping in various TIR lenses is easy.

Thanks! Linkax rule…I will order one!
