How to find the 'What you got today' thread?

Hey, that works! Number 3 in the list nowadays. Thanks raccoon.

That makes you get emailnotices forever I guess.

Oh, you are one of those that have email notifications on? Ok then, I take it back.

I turned off sub’d threads emailing long ago. so now I just check “subscribed threads with unread posts” daily.

For those who want to get email notification maybe BLF could add an option to toggle on email notification for each subscribed thread individually, (put a button for it next to the subscribe button?)

Keep the main email check box in account edits, but have it disable only the threads you didn’t turn on emails.

Add it to your bookmarks.

l wonder why it can’t be “found “ by the search function…while the other threads can…so that is the question, and very valid one at that.

While the other suggestions are also helpful, I just hope this thread can also be found the “traditional” way.

If I cant find something I ask the good wife who always finds it. I’m not sure if partners are that good. :stuck_out_tongue:

if you posted in the thread you can just view your posts and find it, find user menu on the left, click my account, then view posts.

Put the link in your OP so that when you use the search function you can find this thread again and just click the link in your own thread

I like raccoon’s solution best, it is quick, I do not have to arrange things (I’m not very good at that), and if everyone keeps posting their new stuff in the thread it will stay near the top of the ‘most posts’ list

cm2010 solution probably best tho just bookmark the page in your browser favorites

I just look on your profile djozz.

You seem to have a high percentage of very popular and relevant threads

that is strange, I just searched for “What you got today”

It showed me this thread, and the What you mode today thread. hmmm

My guess is that he may have changed the name of the thread and the search won’t pick that up … just a guess but i suppose the theory could be easily tested …Na…Why mess up a good idea with facts .

I added a link to the what you got today thread in the OP.

I tried to search for that thread once more and the search function still does not find it, instead the first hit was this thread :weary:
Now at least it is just one click from here.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-ab&q=site%3Abudgetlightforum.com+what+got+today

Google’s “site search” works if you recall a few key words from your target.

search for: site:budgetlightforum.com followed by the key words.

It gets hits within threads, not just thread titles, of course.

You can use the search “tools” button to limit results to “verbatim” — gets only all the words together, not showing you any link that has any but not all of the keywords you’re searching for.

There ’s obviously many solutions to easily find the thread, thanks for that, but does anyone have an insight why the common search box of BLF does not find it?

Google search is a black box. My hunch would be that somehow the “what you got today” thread is delisted by some algorithm (perhaps link spam, or for whatever reason). In the end only Google knows why.

By the way in the alternative search engine duckduckgo the “what you got thread” appears as the second search result: budgetlightforum "what you got today" at DuckDuckGo.

Very strange indeed.
I got the “new” what you got today thread though, which was started in 2016 and was soon abandoned (only a few posts), but not the ‘real’ one.

Even when searching “what you got today” on Duck Duck Go you only get the “what did you mod today” thread where it mentions the WYGT topic…

That’s crazy…
