Judging by the picture, it seems the LED sits too far forward relative to the reflector.
I can see the beam get narrow half way and then get wider again.
Looks like you should try some extra shim between reflector and LED board.
Trust me I tried everything.
If I move reflector up then the beam starting to get parallel-ish but the corona starting immediately getting huge amd brighter and the hot spot also getting bigger and dimmer. Like the reflector has two parabolic curve.
I can’t explain it better. Maybe with this image help. This is with XP-L HI. The edge of reflector and the area around close to the led is in focus. But If I go farther the white area getting yellow and the yellow area near led getting white. With white flat it is more noticable.
Yeah, i believe you.
It just looked like that in the picture.
Hmmm… Doesn’t look like it should…
Any anomaly in the optics will become very noticeable with this Flat White 1mm².
I have the same problem with a narrow beam TIR optic i wanted to use for the White Flat 1mm².
Seemed to work well with dedomed XM-L2 but it’s a messy compromise at best with this little LED…
I also wasted a lot of time on trying to get it right…
I would have expected a better reflector in your Emisar though.
I doesn’t blame them. It designed for XP-L HI and it is perfectly good tor that. Maybe the big corona what show something isn’t perfect But 48 kcd still very good for this size.
