Thanks for organizing this. I would be in for 40 (not that I need that many) just to support this if you could pin down a tint bin. The 4000k sold on KD is the FB4 bin, which has some green. Even the FA3 bin used by Fireflies, which is supposed to be at or below the BBL was reported to have some green/yellow in it and requires a minus green filter to perfect. I think it would be safer to aim for GA1 and GD4 tint bin.
I love the 3000k sold at KD with HD2 tint. It is a bit yellowish at lower lumen modes but at higher outputs the tint definitely drops below the BBL for a neutral/rosy without yellow tint. It is not as rosy as the E21A 3000k though.
Outside of Kaidomain they aren’t sold in individual bins, only the step binnings, the tightest bin available which is what this GB is for, will include GB4, GC1, GA3, GD2 tint bins. The SST-20 offers such excellent mix of CRI and great throw that it is hard to complain about even on the bins just above BBL.
It is two tint bins below the BBL but in reality, it looks like it is on or just a bit below the BBL. It looks great but not as rosy as E21A 3000k mixed with 4000k.
I bought multiple items from that seller and they’re pretty legit so I have no doubt that it is 5Q. It’s just that often times tint bins that are shown as being below the BBL in manufacturer’s spec sheets are actually above the BBL like in the Samsung LH351D case and as reported for the SST-20 4000k FA3 tint used in Fireflies lights. It takes 2 bins below the BBL to result in a tint at or just below the BBL. I would say the Oslon 5Q is comparable in rosiness to XP-L HI 5A/5D tint and a little less rosy than XP-G2 5A/5D tint.
The Oslon Square 96CRI 2700k 6U bin is beautiful and does look like it is at or below the BBL. Seems like tint bins for 3000k and below are more reliable like the SST-20-W 3000k from KD.
azhu, there’s another GB thread for this emitter going on in another thread. I think it would be better if you work with BlueSword on merging the quantities so better chance of a successful gb.
Most group buys on BLF I have been aware of went through, some were fast, some took ages, not many were cancelled. I believe that the BLF group buy as a phenomenon has been extremely succesful in the past years, making rare things available and helping some great flashlight developments come true.
The reason this one closed is because BlueSwordM was hosting a GB for a number of sifferent emitters includimg this one. I just recieved my sst20 3500k GA3 ting J4 flux bin from that GB two days ago.
