I read through this thread and I looked up the data sheet for this led, but couldn’t find any mention of color temperature anywhere. Does anyone know what CCT these new leds come in? I’m partial to 4000k and below, personally. I realize I’m in the minority with that preference.

well, it appears that the change of emitter is a hit.
Whether you want to make an even bigger leap by changing battery(21700) is up to you.
It would cement your place as innovating further development of the flashlight.
As opposed to to incrementally milking previous versions.

Agro, a lot of the industry doesn’t like change, they’re used to hiding imperfections behind sandblasting. To take the parts straight from the CNC to the ano bath will show the machine marks from the tooling and while some of us like that the industry is afraid it will be seen as ugly or unfinished by the consumer market at large. So on the few occasions we have had success it has been in limited runs. I’m ok with that, a serial numbered limited run of 100, or 300, would be great. If they saw a quick sell out then they might be interested in taking it further, maybe a second run of 500 or 1000, who knows…

One thing to consider is that they mass produce these for the best “bang for the buck”. If they were to machine for a raw finish they would probably need to slow the speed, and possibly change the tool and tool path.

Also….any idea why sometimes undyed ano is very dark and sometimes not really visible

Probably the alloy used. Might also have something to do with the chemical composition of the acid bath or ano bath.

I know T6061 anodizes clear, you can’t tell it’s there by sight but it still offers mechanical lockout at the tail cap by breaking the connection from the clean edge with a slight unscrew of the cap.
