Some pics too

- Champagne SST20 10W NW 4000K CRI95
Two Scratchs, a bit too warm for me color rendition it’s good but unnatural, good power, belt is free but useless, anduril is perfect, no problem with my 21700, without grease on O ring, magnet Ok, Overall with GB price i like it.

- Black XPL Hi V3 3A 5000K Neutral White
Missing “Hot”, fragile “Fireflies” marking, the most powerful, belt is free but useless, anduril is perfect, no problem with my 21700, without grease on O ring, magnet Ok, Overall with GB price i like it.

- Champagne Nichia 219B-V1 R9080 (with clip)
Best color rendition for me more natural than SST20, a bit more cold than my nichia Rot66, good power, belt is free but useless, anduril is perfect, no problem with my 21700, without grease on O ring, magnet Ok, Overall with GB price i like it.

Vince? Is that one in the center by any chance the SST-20 variant? (in the pic of three shining on the wall)

Also, do you find these useful as a headlamp?

I might have fallen prey to picture gazing before reading. lol Sorry.

I have the high CRI SST-20 due in probably tomorrow, have been wondering if it was going to be too warm for my taste. May gift it to my S-I-L for Christmas as it is looking like I probably won’t like the 20’s for my own use.

Salut Vincent,

Thanks for sharing information and photos.
Based on the images, it appears as if the SST20 is significantly throwier than the 219b. Would love to hear your comments about the beam between the two.

Thanks

I dont remember the actual numbers but yes SST-20 has significantly smaller die than 219B or C and will be throwier.

Yes :+1:

I’ve tested with my smartphone, high/turbo mode at 1m :

XPL Hi V3 3A 5000K : ~11 500 / ~29 000 lux
SST20 10W NW 4000K CRI95 : ~9 800 / ~21 000 lux
Nichia 219B-V1 R9080 : ~4 900 / ~9 000 lux

I’m curious if anyone in Canada has a working tracking number. I was giving a Deutche Post tracking number on Nov 18 so I assume they are consolidating shipments in Germany, but there is no tracking data. It’s registered mail so there will be nothing available on the Canadian end.

Nope, absolutely nothing.

Before you decide to give it away, try to use it outdoors a bit. If you just shine it on a white wall, it might look too warm if the light fixtures in your house are CW. However, at nighttime outdoors, I find my E21A 4000k and 219B 4500k resemble sunlight the most. Colors are much more saturated too. CW light looks more like light from a cloudy day.

It’s kind of frustrating because at least the insanely slow ePacket shipments from China for previous FF orders showed they were actually mailed at the origin. Either the German tracking isn’t working or they haven’t even made it to Germany to be re-shipped yet.

I have the impression that the reason tracking has not been updated once is because of the ceasing of international shipments to Canada.

So, unless Fireflies shipped via Direct Mail/Express shipping, there will be no tracking of sorts.

Which is very puzzling since Sofirn actually shipped using Direct Mail during the strike, and actually has tracking back in Winnipeg, with a cheaper overall package.

The Sofirn lights got shipped earlier than the PL47, and yet, I might get it before the PL47.

I wonder how the lux figures would compare at an equivalent regulated output. If high is the pwm ramp ceiling driven on FET, the SST and xpl can be driven harder meanwhile the 219b output curve reaches it’s max potential. At a regulated level, I would think 219b would do better relative to its current standing based on high and Turbo.

The lux reading is so much higher on the SST-20 because it has higher illuminance/throwier beam.

Royal Mail and other international postal services resumed shipments to Canada right after the strike ended almost three weeks ago. There should at least be tracking at Deutsche Post if the packages have been dispatched from Germany (Canada Post disabled tracking on inbound registered mail in 2015). It would be nice to hear from Freeme/FF whether shipments to Canada have actually been mailed yet.

I got my PL47 in today. Black body, blue board lights with purple switch lights. Looks sharp, the SST-20 95 CRI emitters are a pleasing tint, as it so happens it is very close to what I get from the mixed tints of 17 emitters in my 458 Ham’r, so it’s a big win!

Now, to decide, gift it to my Son-in-law (a monster I created) or keep it and find him something else? lol

My aux leds are also similar to the D4S on low, the PL47 aux might be slightly brighter. I don’t think they are adjustable like the D4S right?

Also can anyone confirm if a Samsung 30T is ok to use with XPL HI? Ever since fireflies issued the warning I haven’t tested the 30T on turbo. I’m running a 40T but I think the 30T might be brighter? :sunglasses:

The 30T will be brighter but I think the 40T is a better option. The flashlight will get very hot very quickly already with the 40T, so I think the 30T is not worth the shorter runtime and shorter high/turbo. Note that the 40T already has higher current than the 18650’s and 26650’s.

I’d use the 30T with the E07, that has 7 emitters.

The Aux lights have low high and locator settings, if I remember correctly from just a little while ago. It’s boxed back up…

Edit: Sorry, the Aux has low, locator, and off. In low the switch LED’s are all lit, in locator only two are constant and the other two flash with the main board LED’s. When the Aux lights on the main board are turned off, only two of the switch LED’s are lit.

I had hoped to get the mixed board LED’s like TK did, purple and blue would have been cool, but mine are all blue.

Running it on an iJoy 21700.

Good idea! However, would 7 emitters and 30T possibly damage XPL HI (my preferred LED) with too much heat?
