Olight 10C 16340 3amp Discharge Graph (Now Vapcell is the best 16340 I have tested)

I got a few Olights during the holiday sales and the S1R ll comes with a proprietary 16340 battery.
The OLIGHT-ORB-163C05-10C battery. Olight gets 1130 lumens out of a S1R ll with a 16340, measured in my lumentube.
I modified a V11R that’s basically direct drive with a Trustfire (red gold) that consistently does 900 lumens on start up.
I tried using the Olight 16340 in the V11R but it wouldn’t make contact because of the raised plastic negative protector on top of the battery.
.

.
So I used a loose solder ball that was laying around and placed it on the positive button and tried again.
That worked and I quickly tried that in the lumentube. I got slightly over 1000 lumens.
I thought this battery is handling the current better than the best 16340.
I hooked up the icharger and logview and ran a discharge test.
This is at a 3 amp load and the voltage is .05v under what you see in the graph, so keep that in mind.
.

.
I got 562mah for a time of 11m:16sec. IR measured at 80 mohm. Last longer and has less voltage sag than the Trusfire (red gold) 16340.
Ever 16340 I have tested at 3a drops voltage within seconds to around 3.6v, this one held above 3.6v for over a minute.
I wanted to use these in several lights I have, so I decide to unwrap one and see what I could do to make them work in my other lights before I purchased more. This is what I found.
.

.
It has some kind of metal cap on it holding the raised plastic protector on. I took a small screw driver and began to slowly
pry on the cap until it became loose and came off with a little force.
.

.
You can see the raised plastic that keeps it from making contact on the positive end.
This is the top once the cap is removed.
.

.
I cut the raised part off the plastic protector until it was flat like a washer. Placed it on top of the battery and wrapped it with clear PVC heatshrink. I ordered some 16mm heatshrink, all I had on hand was made for 18650’s and didn’t shrink up quite as good as I would have liked.

.
Once I figured out for sure this would work I ordered several more to convert.
On a Cautionary Note, Do Not try to cut the raised area off the protector without taking it off the battery.
The battery negative and positive is on both sides of the protector, if you touch both at the same time, you’ll get fireworks :person_facepalming: .
Do not try to use this battery without rewrapping it for this reason also.

Thanks for posting, need to score some now.

How did you modify your V11R?

I’m now using 2 1206 .050 ohm sense resistors stacked with the other mods in that thread.
1020 lumens on start up with the Olight 10C 16340 out of a LH351D 4000k 90 CRI.

Hey mate have you tried the AW 16340s? The AW cells perform good and are a decent price.

These are also good i have one in my S1r.

I haven’t tested any AW’s. Can you link the battery you are referring to.
The AW 15C 16340 that HKJ tested was a very good battery but it’s supply is about all dried up, hard to find.

AW stopped selling batteries about 2 years ago, what is left for sale is old stock. The 15C 16340 is at very few places with high shipping.

Really? There was an aliexpress store called AW and Andrew wang was the contact but this was a while ago.

Maybe heaps of the AW cells are fakes.

Most are not the 15c but a less high drain version.

On a Cautionary note, do not try to cut the raised area off the protector without taking it off the battery.

Most people probably know this, but I don’t want to cause anyone to receiving the Darwin award. :stuck_out_tongue:

There were many fakes, which necessitated the holographic sticker with three anti-counterfeit features stamped into it.

There was a flood in the factory making the batteries in 2017, IIRC and things haven’t gotten back in order yet and might never.

Chris

We put our trust in you to make some even more “higher drainer” and widely available  :smiling_imp:

I received my Vapcell 16340’s today. I ran a 3 amp discharge test on the icharger from fully charged. I got 638mah at 12 min and 45 secs down to 3v.
Down to 2.75v, I got 726mah at 15 min and 25 secs. This test was done at a constant discharge of 3 amps and there’s no doubt this cell will make 800mah or more at a 1 amp or less discharge.
When I started the test the voltage stayed decently high. It started at 3.7v under the load and fell rapidly to 3.6v where it slowly crept down to 3.5v after about 3 mins. The cell done very well holding around 3.5v for awhile.

We have a new 16340 King, less sag and more capacity :person_with_crown:

Thanks Vapcell for improving on these smaller size cells. Great Job :+1: .

Very professional testing

Thanks again
